Poured a deep amber color with aromas of smoke, oxidation, bourbon, and some light vanilla. Flavors are smoke, ash, some old malt with some bourbon notes. I think I sat on this bottle too long. Boutip (6533) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 17, 2014
Bottle: Poured a cloudy deep brown color ale with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of nice woody notes of bourbon and vanilla with light roasted malt with some very good black chocolate notes. Taste is also a great mxi between some vanilla and bourbon notes with light bitter roasted malt notes which are mostly offset by some rich black chocolate notes. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Great balance with nice barrel-aging treatment. jcartamdg (3535) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 3, 2014
Pours dark brown almost black. Aroma of bourbon and malt. Taste is bourbon, vanilla and oak, slight smoke. Not bad not great. alexsdad06 (10817) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - SEP 8, 2013
FOBAB. Pours very dark brown to black with a medium sized tan head that disappears quickly. The aroma and flavor have quite a bit of bourbon barrel, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, oak, chocolate. Medium-bodied and pretty tasty; maybe just a touch too much barrel. So much to do and so little time. JStax (7175) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - AUG 17, 2013
Bottle shared. Pours a darker brown with no head. Aroma is raisins and figs. Tastes sweet with a little heat on the back end.

Well I dk if the spelling error was on purpose but this is a decent porterish beer. Jesterdeal (1986) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - FEB 27, 2013
Aroma of rye, vanilla, molasses, toffee, chocolate and birch beer. Pours deep brown, with a fluffy head. Taste has bitter rye, good smoked body, vanilla bean, and toffee. Delicious. nuplastikk (6453) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 10, 2013
Sample at GTMW ticket wait. Brown-black bourbon, caramel aroma. Smooth and chocolate edged, kind of booze forward, but grows on you. Not much semblance of a Schwarz. Big brown chocolate I guess. A lot of depth. Advocate_Ames (635) - Steubenville, Ohio, USA - JAN 9, 2013
A nice scent of sweet bourbon, roasted malts, vanilla, and oak. The flavor is malty. The bourbon has a nice taste. I also picked up on the oak with a slight vanilla taste. There is a minimal bitterness in the Schwartz. Overall the bourbon lingers and coats the mouth impacting the palate mildly. Its not a bad thing but it is noticeable. I enjoyed this drink. The only negative is that the flavor dissipates quickly and what sticks around is a good bourbon flavor. DrSilverworm (9672) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 26, 2012
Sample from a bottle shared by Bunker. Pretty sure it was the barrel aged version. Bottle looked exactly like the one pictured. Dark brown color. Good thin khaki head. Decent lace. Good robust malty nose. Some vanilla. Big body, good, creamy and smooth. Light carbonation. Some alcohol in the taste, moderate bitterness. Dry finish. This is a great imperial schwarz. Awesome mouthfeel and aroma.
