COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our "Brown is the new Black" Imperial Schwartz aged in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels, this new element to an already amped up Schwartz is a great addition to complicating it’s flavor; soft roast, malty, oak, vanilla, and bourbon are just a few descriptors for this fine lager.

Draft at Fobab 10. Pours a deep brown, near black with a tan head. The nose is soft chocolate along with some charcoal. Strong notes of woodford coconut and vanilla back it up. On tasting, fairly robust. Good barrel presence and integration. Quite clean overall. Medium bodied. Chocolatey finish and drying charcoal as well. Really solid beer.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark black with a thin white head. Nose that lets you know its an oak aged black beer. Good amount of roast and bakers chocolate with some vanilla, bourbon hints. The flavor is balanced really well. Not too sweet or syruppy. A good amount of roast and bakers chocolate with the hints that it spent some time in the barrel - oak, vanilla, bourbon. Medium body ... really drinkable stuff. Dry and really well done. It’s hardly a schwarzbier, but this is what schwarzbiers should want to be.

22oz bottle. Rating #25. First off, this was a bitch of a wax job and it took awhile to get open, but it was worth the effort. This was a really good beer, light roast and dark fruits are prominent with a nice barrel character that wasn’t over powering. (2557)

Bomber from Summer Secret Santa. Mahogany with a biege head. Very pleasant smoke with vanilla, oak, bourbon, some bakers chocolate, roasted malts, some plums. Full body, moderate carbonation, lost of kick from the alcohol, mild sweetness with a nice bitter kick and blend of the alcohol. The barrel treatment puts this beer over the top in terms of deliciousness.

A big beer. Bourbon barreled imperial schwartz says it all, as it is not a shwartz. Lots of bourbon, roast, boozy, vanilla, raisin, and sweetness. The aroma is somewhat more balanced and pleasant, perhaps a function of several months of aging. Big black body, above average mouthfeel. More of a sipper in terms of drinkability. Thanks FlandersNed.

Pours black with thin tan head. Aroma is bourbon, oak and chocolate. Flavor is bourbon, oak, chocolate and tobacco. Phenomenal.

Dark brown, tinged ruby at the edges, nearly black in the middle. Smallish tan head faded fast. Light carbonation. Rich nose is roasty but cut by the strong burnt caramel and whiskey aromatics. Flavor is similar, a potent alcohol presence gives it a burning kick, mild roast, lots of chocolate, vanilla, burnt caramel, oaky bourbon. Rounded palate but the alcohol and astringency detract from what is almost an easy sipper. More than a little rough around the edges.

Sampled at Nattifest ’12. Dark beer with garnet hues when held against the light. Short lived tan head. Nice mellow buttery bourbon barrel nose with lots of alcohol fumes. Big bourbon flavors in this beer with oak and butter and vanilla. There is not much behind the bourbon flavors. If you like bourbon then this is your beer. Tastey bourbon infused beer, but one dimensional.

22oz bottle from Dunt. Dark brown with a small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of bourbon, bread, roasted coffee, vanilla, butterscotch and oak. Flavor is rich, smooth, bready malt, chocolate, hot bourbon, oak and some sweet butterscotch. Medium body with a prickly carbonation and a long warming finish. Fantastic beer, loads of bourbon barrel character with a smooth, rich malty backbone.

Bottle sample at Natifest 12. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting and produced excellent lacing. Moderate roasted malt, vanilla and woody bourbon alcohol aroma. Medium body with a dry smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted dark bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid standout brew and very good for style.
