COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our "Brown is the new Black" Imperial Schwartz aged in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels, this new element to an already amped up Schwartz is a great addition to complicating it’s flavor; soft roast, malty, oak, vanilla, and bourbon are just a few descriptors for this fine lager.

Courtesy of Dak. It pours a nice looking mahogany with tan head. The aroma offers up pears, molasses, some roasted malts and booze. The taste is smooth and gets increasingly creamy with yummy notes of apricot, molasses, pine hops and then hints of sweet vanilla and smooth sweet bourbon. Great complexity and balance here. Wow! Well done.

22oz bottle pours a translucent, near black with one ring of white head. Nice nose, vanilla, milk chocolate, nutty, sweet, inviting. Flavor is sweet, brown sugar, vanilla, cake icing, chocolate. Full bodied, sweet finish. One note, but nice anyway.

Draft on tap at the brewpub for Pre-DLD 2012(Flossmoor, IL). Pours a wickedly dark hue, well hazed with ruby brown edges and bottom. A tannish frothy head dies to a film, laces small. Aromas are sticky sweet toffee, toasty malts, and chocolate. A permeable sweetness, some more cocoa, vanilla and oak, barrel tannins. Touches of roasty qualities, toffee, and some biscuits. Barrel presence starts to assert itself more into middle, offering Bourbon spirit, vanilla, dustings of toasted coconut. Some more cocoa, toffee, chocolate covered toffee, biscuits. Firm barrel really brings the vanilla barrel tannins into the backend. Really nice, thinned out some of the sweetness and sticky nature of the base, but still firm on the palate, inviting barrel presence offers a good display. Toffee, coconut, drizzled cocoa and fudgey presence. Finish leaves lingering sticky malts, firm barrel complexities, and a good drinker overall. Really surprised.. This beer offers a lot. Creamy elements, lots of barrel flavor without much heat interfering. Solid.

22oz bottle shared by noodleuser: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a stringy-lacing light tan head. Has a sweet dark caramel bourbon and vanilla oak nose with notes of dark chocolate. Starts with good fullness and dark caramel sweetness with a touch of raisin and plum complexity along with vanilla oaky bourbon warmth in the finish. Could hide its alcohol a little better, but should age well.

Bottle shared. Pours a darker brown with no head. Aroma is raisins and figs. Tastes sweet with a little heat on the back end.

Boutip (6486) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 17, 2014
Bottle: Poured a cloudy deep brown color ale with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of nice woody notes of bourbon and vanilla with light roasted malt with some very good black chocolate notes. Taste is also a great mxi between some vanilla and bourbon notes with light bitter roasted malt notes which are mostly offset by some rich black chocolate notes. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Great balance with nice barrel-aging treatment.

Sample at GTMW ticket wait. Brown-black bourbon, caramel aroma. Smooth and chocolate edged, kind of booze forward, but grows on you. Not much semblance of a Schwarz. Big brown chocolate I guess. A lot of depth.

burg326 (5596) - Florida, USA - JUL 1, 2014
Poured a deep amber color with aromas of smoke, oxidation, bourbon, and some light vanilla. Flavors are smoke, ash, some old malt with some bourbon notes. I think I sat on this bottle too long.

Bottle courtesy of noodleuser. Served in a mini snifter. Pours near black with a short tan head. The nose brings some light roast along with bourbon, roast, and vanilla. Mild sweetness. Flavor has really nice bourbon notes along with a touch of vanilla and roast. Medium body with good carbonation. One of the best Flossmoor beers that I’ve had.

jsquire (4578) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - AUG 19, 2012
Sampled at Nattifest ’12. Dark beer with garnet hues when held against the light. Short lived tan head. Nice mellow buttery bourbon barrel nose with lots of alcohol fumes. Big bourbon flavors in this beer with oak and butter and vanilla. There is not much behind the bourbon flavors. If you like bourbon then this is your beer. Tastey bourbon infused beer, but one dimensional.
