tan-nut brown, no head. Nose is sweet, sugar masks leaving light grain, bark, marshmallow. Flavor is hot, cocoa and light tea, marshmallow and oxidized through finish. Thin, sweet. BelgianBeerGal (4138) - Panama City, Florida, USA - MAY 7, 2012
This starts the gigantic backlog from DLD and the Jackie O release. Draft at pre-DLD party at the brewery. This tasted like a vanilla and coconut snowcone to me...definitely not in a bad way. jcartamdg (3521) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 3, 2014
Pours dark brown almost black. Aroma of bourbon and malt. Taste is bourbon, vanilla and oak, slight smoke. Not bad not great. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 21, 2012
Draft at Fobab 10. Pours a deep brown, near black with a tan head. The nose is soft chocolate along with some charcoal. Strong notes of woodford coconut and vanilla back it up. On tasting, fairly robust. Good barrel presence and integration. Quite clean overall. Medium bodied. Chocolatey finish and drying charcoal as well. Really solid beer. Bottle shared by TheAlum in the GTMW line...thanks Adam! - Pours mahogany with next to no had. Nose is sweet and boozy--a little sharp--with vanilla, oak, and layer after layer of sticky sweet malty barrel. Taste is the same--real sweet with vanilla, bourbon, toffee, and medium roast. Smoothed out a bit more than the nose. Not all that carbonated, but a nice mellow mouthfeel. pushkinwow (2888) - Ottawa, CANADA - OCT 13, 2012
Bomber from Summer Secret Santa. Mahogany with a biege head. Very pleasant smoke with vanilla, oak, bourbon, some bakers chocolate, roasted malts, some plums. Full body, moderate carbonation, lost of kick from the alcohol, mild sweetness with a nice bitter kick and blend of the alcohol. The barrel treatment puts this beer over the top in terms of deliciousness. PhillyBeer2112 (2884) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - AUG 31, 2012
Dark brown, tinged ruby at the edges, nearly black in the middle. Smallish tan head faded fast. Light carbonation. Rich nose is roasty but cut by the strong burnt caramel and whiskey aromatics. Flavor is similar, a potent alcohol presence gives it a burning kick, mild roast, lots of chocolate, vanilla, burnt caramel, oaky bourbon. Rounded palate but the alcohol and astringency detract from what is almost an easy sipper. More than a little rough around the edges. 22oz bottle. Rating #25. First off, this was a bitch of a wax job and it took awhile to get open, but it was worth the effort. This was a really good beer, light roast and dark fruits are prominent with a nice barrel character that wasn’t over powering. (2557) savnac (2391) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - AUG 13, 2012
22oz bottle from Dunt. Dark brown with a small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of bourbon, bread, roasted coffee, vanilla, butterscotch and oak. Flavor is rich, smooth, bready malt, chocolate, hot bourbon, oak and some sweet butterscotch. Medium body with a prickly carbonation and a long warming finish. Fantastic beer, loads of bourbon barrel character with a smooth, rich malty backbone.
