From Dak! Pours a dark brown color with a garnet hue. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, and marshmallow. Taste is sweet with more bourbon and vanilla. Medium bodied and smooth. This is one pretty awesome beer! holdenn (2116) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 26, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark black with a thin white head. Nose that lets you know its an oak aged black beer. Good amount of roast and bakers chocolate with some vanilla, bourbon hints. The flavor is balanced really well. Not too sweet or syruppy. A good amount of roast and bakers chocolate with the hints that it spent some time in the barrel - oak, vanilla, bourbon. Medium body ... really drinkable stuff. Dry and really well done. It’s hardly a schwarzbier, but this is what schwarzbiers should want to be. Aroma of rye, vanilla, molasses, toffee, chocolate and birch beer. Pours deep brown, with a fluffy head. Taste has bitter rye, good smoked body, vanilla bean, and toffee. Delicious. rbrazell (1698) - Florida, USA - JUL 7, 2012
UPDATED: JUL 8, 2012 Thanks Danny! Deep amber pour with a white head. Nose is sweet bourbon, nice malts, and vanilla. Great flavor that similar to the nose and not too sweet. Pretty tasty. Hair6a11 (1481) - Illinois, USA - JUN 14, 2012
Bottle; Pour is murky brown with a fine bubbled khaki head in this glass; the head is average, with modest lacing, and modest retention as well. The nose is heavy on the barrel treatment. Oak, Vanilla, Booze... and some caramel, chocolate, roast notes. This one starts off fairly one dimensional, yet seemed decent enough. As it warmed it went a bit downhill for me, revealing more of the booze than I would have liked. This one seems like an interesting take, but fairly pointless by my estimation. It does have a soft feel, but its overtaken by the barrel treatment (oak, vanilla, booze, bourbon), with some chocolate, roast, caramel notes near the finish. Not bad but.....

A nice scent of sweet bourbon, roasted malts, vanilla, and oak. The flavor is malty. The bourbon has a nice taste. I also picked up on the oak with a slight vanilla taste. There is a minimal bitterness in the Schwartz. Overall the bourbon lingers and coats the mouth impacting the palate mildly. Its not a bad thing but it is noticeable. I enjoyed this drink. The only negative is that the flavor dissipates quickly and what sticks around is a good bourbon flavor. jar72404 (426) - USA - SEP 30, 2012
Pours black with thin tan head. Aroma is bourbon, oak and chocolate. Flavor is bourbon, oak, chocolate and tobacco. Phenomenal.
