Aroma of rye, vanilla, molasses, toffee, chocolate and birch beer. Pours deep brown, with a fluffy head. Taste has bitter rye, good smoked body, vanilla bean, and toffee. Delicious. daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAY 13, 2012
b3shine with an awesome extra! Deep brown pour, big pillowy tan head. Aroma is loaded with oak, vanilla, bourbon, roast, chocolate notes, coconut, licorice, root beer. Flavor is sweet, rich, just enough roast/hop profile to balance the loads of vanilla, bourbon, oak. Hell yeah this is delicoius. Ibrew2or3 (8828) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JUL 1, 2012
Courtesy of Dak. It pours a nice looking mahogany with tan head. The aroma offers up pears, molasses, some roasted malts and booze. The taste is smooth and gets increasingly creamy with yummy notes of apricot, molasses, pine hops and then hints of sweet vanilla and smooth sweet bourbon. Great complexity and balance here. Wow! Well done. jar72404 (426) - USA - SEP 30, 2012
Pours black with thin tan head. Aroma is bourbon, oak and chocolate. Flavor is bourbon, oak, chocolate and tobacco. Phenomenal. pushkinwow (2896) - Ottawa, CANADA - OCT 13, 2012
Bomber from Summer Secret Santa. Mahogany with a biege head. Very pleasant smoke with vanilla, oak, bourbon, some bakers chocolate, roasted malts, some plums. Full body, moderate carbonation, lost of kick from the alcohol, mild sweetness with a nice bitter kick and blend of the alcohol. The barrel treatment puts this beer over the top in terms of deliciousness.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark black with a thin white head. Nose that lets you know its an oak aged black beer. Good amount of roast and bakers chocolate with some vanilla, bourbon hints. The flavor is balanced really well. Not too sweet or syruppy. A good amount of roast and bakers chocolate with the hints that it spent some time in the barrel - oak, vanilla, bourbon. Medium body ... really drinkable stuff. Dry and really well done. It’s hardly a schwarzbier, but this is what schwarzbiers should want to be. phaleslu (10673) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 30, 2012
Draft at the pre-Dark Lord Day event, 2012. Pours a super dark brown, pretty much opaque, with a tan head that starts large and dissipates quickly. A lot of bourbon barrel notes in this, with vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, root beer, oak, chocolate, and coconut. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a sweet, roasty mouthfeel. Very tasty. drowland (9078) - Georgia, USA - JUL 9, 2012
7/7/12. Bottle shared at my going away tasting by myself (courtesy a trade from BeerBob26). Brown pour with a small khaki head. Nice buttery coconut aroma with some bourbon, vanilla, oak, and roasted malts. Slightly sweet entry with malt, chocolate, coffee, bourbon, vanilla, and more. Quite tasty! Bottle sample at Natifest 12. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting and produced excellent lacing. Moderate roasted malt, vanilla and woody bourbon alcohol aroma. Medium body with a dry smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted dark bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid standout brew and very good for style. savnac (2656) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - AUG 13, 2012
22oz bottle from Dunt. Dark brown with a small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of bourbon, bread, roasted coffee, vanilla, butterscotch and oak. Flavor is rich, smooth, bready malt, chocolate, hot bourbon, oak and some sweet butterscotch. Medium body with a prickly carbonation and a long warming finish. Fantastic beer, loads of bourbon barrel character with a smooth, rich malty backbone.
