Sampled at fobab 2010. Pours a light golden with a small white head. Aroma is zesty fruit citric with some booziness and vanilla and other sugary candy. Flavor starts light and sweet, very basic, picking up some barrel woody notes and graininess. Some honey and apple notes become prevalent before a sweet vanilla and boozy finish. Medium body and a sharper carbonation. Alright, the barrel really overwhelms the delicacy of the saison, thus defeating the style. HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - NOV 24, 2010
Sampled at FoBAB 2010. Golden pour with offwhite head. Aroma of oak, pepper, some bourbon, light sweetness. Flavor of fairly sweet carmael, toffee, light fruit. Vanilla and spice. Thinnish mouthfeel. Pretty good, but not great. phaleslu (10666) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 16, 2010
Draft sample at FOBAB 2010. Notes of butterscotch, caramel malts, peppery spices, bourbon, and earth. Medium-bodied, with a boozy, spicy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Big, boozy, woody, spicy saison that is a bit of a Frankenstein beer but certainly unusual and interesting to drink. msante79 (2244) - Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA - NOV 15, 2010
On tap at the station. Pours clear golden with little white head. Aromas of spices, bourbon, vanilla, and oak. Flavor is totally dominated by barrel. Lots of bourbon, vanilla, and a little spice. Really liked the base beer. Did not hold up well in barrel. pantanap (3367) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 13, 2010
not sure where my rating for this went but this was sampled at Gtmw 2010.... appearance consistent with the other current rates... i concur with deyholla and lushawn that the bourbon just totally engulfs this beer and overruns the refreshing fruity nature of the base turk which i enjoyed to a decent degree. barrel not as apparent of assertive in the nose and therefore gets a slightly higher score from that standpoint. couldn’t drink much of this and a couple ounces was more than enough.

tap FOBAB 2010. sweet, earthy caramel and melon balanced against a bourbony booze presence. somewhat buttery. light spicey cracked pepper note. this big sweet, boozey, bourbon saison is quite the juxtaposition to the light, dry, and not boozy saisons that i have a fondness for. not bad, but wouldn’t go out of my way to drink it again. Draft at FoBAB 8. I actually had low expectations going into this one, particularly given the fact that the Turk wasn’t particularly hgh end from what I hear. Pours a deep gold with sticky head. Nose is very spicy. White pepper, vanilla and floral. Pretty well integrated bourbon note. Taste is reasonably clean with the oak coming through and a slight tart herbal note and spicy pepper washing through as well. Pretty dynamic beer and interesting. bu11zeye (13215) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - AUG 21, 2010
(Draught) Pours a lightly hazy golden body with a moderate white head. Aroma of vanilla, oak, pepper, and grass. Flavor of vanilla, herbs, oak, earthiness, pear, some bourbon, and grass. deyholla (12253) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 17, 2010
Sampled from the tap at the 2010 GTMW. Poured a cloudy pale gold with a thick white head that dissipated slowly. Aroma was sweet with a decent amount of spice (pepper) and a clear underlying bourbon note. Flavor was sweet and had a nice yeast note but the bourbon didn’t seem to meld well with the rest of the beer. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - AUG 16, 2010
Sampled on tap at the GTMW ’10 (Madison, WI). Pours a golden glowing orange hue, light haze, frothy bright white head. Aromas are oaky vanilla and bourbon spirit, toffee, bready malts, a touch of spice. The saison from last year is beneath, covered by rich barrel influence. Initial is medium bodied, a kick of bourbon, bready malts, spicey belgian yeast, slight pepper and fruity esters of pear and apple, more bread, biscuits, a touch of gentler sweetness. Finish is smoothed out barrel, biscuity malts, spicy yeast, and fruity pear. Light bitterness, lingering barrel, and a touch of heat stick to the palate with a mellow earthy character, sweet bread, spicy yeast hangs on. A barrel aged and Bourbon slanted Saison is a unique thing, but it certainly didn’t dissappoint.
