Not very tasty at all, rather pale coloured. Very light bodied. limited roastiness. Clean, but mostly dull.
Mostly sweet palate, but never really choosing a direction, avoiding fruitiness and wandering into the cerealic side of things. Not much lager character, no crispiness.
Draft... DLD’08... Very dark (almost black), clear ruby red with a large, frothy, white head. Creamy, tight retention. A merger of cocoa, vanilla and cinnamon comprise the aroma. Medium-bodied with a skim-milk mouthfeel and bristly carbonation. Well-balanced, nicely roasted and very drinkable. Good bitterness prevents overwhelming sweetness. Pours a light black to dark brown and is transluscent. No real lasting head. Smell is dry roasty dark malt. Taste is same but thinner than the smell. Light bodied and drinkable, but just average flavorwise. No real flaws however. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAR 28, 2008
Sampled from the full sampler at Flossmoor Station. Poured a dark syrupy brown with a prominent off white head that stuck around. Faint malty aromas that leave little intimidation. Flavors are of nice toasted darker malts with some sweet undertones. A very pleasant and refreshing brew with a smooth finish. It’s all about the taste.

Draft at Radio Maria in Champaign, IL. Pours black with a nice thick tan head. Faint aroma of dry roast and lager yeast. Initial flavor of dark caramel that transitions to dry roasty middle, with some accents of chocolate and nuts. This an interesting take on a Schwarzbier. Sort of like brown lager/ dry stout blend. On tap, 9/22 at the brewery. Very dark color with some short lived tan foam, no lacing. Lots of dark malt in the aroma, very sweet smelling. On tap at Flossmoor Station, and served in a shaker. This beer poured a dark black with a thin, quickly fading, light grayish/tan head. Very little lace was left behind. The aroma of the beer was made up of cocoa, light roasted malts, and also some light yeast. The flavor was mainly light roasted malts, with some caramel and chocolate at the finish. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with minimal carbonation. Another winner from Flossmoor.
