3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Mug club draft poured on tap at the brewpub (Flossmoor, IL). Unlike "Old Man Carl" I love blueberries.. But only natural blueberry, so I can be a toug critic. Pours a highly reddish copper, a bit purple almost mixes in, big tan head that throws minimal red notes, light haze. Actually, quite stunning. Aromas are a bit of wheaty cereal quality, light hop florals, and light berry pulp. Initial throws some prominent berry notes, a little artificial if you ask me but not too distracting. More like the small variety you’d find in a tin for making muffins. Light wheaty cereal qualities, sweet and mellow with just light tartness in the fairly dominant blueberry flavor. A bit of a mellow blueberry stays on the palate through finish, light bitterness mingles at the end. Arguably, better than Flossmoor’s standard Fruit Wheat collection. Not bad.
[Tap] Hazy amber color with a distinct purple tint to it. Strong aroma of blueberries and blackberries. Not much else in the nose. Taste is of more berries, sweet malts, bread and residual sugars. After the initial berry flavor wears off, the remaining flavors are quite weak. Thin mouthfeel. Tastes almost exactly like Leinie’s Berry Weiss to me. hotstuff (5158) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - FEB 8, 2014
Rated on 4-01-2010 at Flossmoor. This draft beer pours a small head with a long retention, transparent orange body, very little carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is sweet, wheat, lightly sour, and blueberries. The taste is sweet, artificial blueberries and some malt. The palate is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer just did not do it for me either in the aroma or the flavor. Next! JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUL 11, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. Far and away the weakest of the beers I sampled on my visit, and I probably could have expected this given its name. Watery looking red lager look to it, somehow dismal and artificial in its appearance. Hostess Fruit Pie blueberry in the nose, along with some perfunctory grain and hops. Taste is moderately more beer-like but not a beer I especially enjoyed. maxwelldeux (4374) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - APR 14, 2012
This is like drinking a liquid blueberry. Fruit notes are heavy for both nose and palate, making for an extreme fruit experience. chibuck (3513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 27, 2011
draft... dark purple, a bit of a dirty color, light pink head, great lace, light cap... light aroma, a bit of blueberry... tastes nice at first, nice sweet juice, blueberries, gets a little skunky at first, but this is one of the best fruit wheat beers I’ve had

This one was great! Aroma is blueberry fruit, sweet, malty, appearance is dark blue color, cloudy, nice head and lace. malty, light blueberry taste, wheat, noticeable hops. Full mouth feel, lingering bite. Overall, skip dessert and have this instead! Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - NOV 27, 2010
On tap at the Brewpub in August 2009. Pours a medium golden color with a good amount of head. The smell is crisp with some blueberry presence, although I’m not sure how well it fits in. The taste has blueberries present as well, but I just don’t get them melding well with the wheat, and there is a bit of an artificial-ness to the fruit flavor. The mouthfeel is light to medium with moderate carbonation, lending to the drinkability, but a little too much fruit flavor for this one to be truly sessionable.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a uncarbonated transparent light orange colored body. The mild aroma was blueberry. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of mild hops dough and blueberry. A decent one that I would consider buying again. kitschy (326) - Nebraska, USA - FEB 13, 2010
Sampled on our Great Lakes beer tour. Purplish amber color. Smells like blueberries, tastes like blueberries and hops. Rough palate. JaBier (7973) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JAN 10, 2010
Sample at Flossmoor. Cloudy amber pour with a medium off-white head. Wheat malt aroma with some dank fruit. Blueberry and sweet malt flavor with a semi-dry finish.
