It's that time of year again. When the south siders parade about, when they dye the river green, and when your friends think it's cool to pretend they are Irish. To commerate we are offering Brilliant!, a opaque and creamy stout with a silky mouthfeel. It's served on nitrogen so watch for cascades, and erin go bleargh!

Rich, sweet, roasted malt aroma. Light brown head. Excellent lace. Fully opaque body. Smooth, roasted, milky stout. Too dry. Not enough balance. Not as good as Guiness.

On tap at the brewpub: Black pour with a creamy light tan head. Some roasty coffe notes, chocolate as well. Kind of a thin mouthfeel, some slight bitterness, with a roasty finish. Thought it reminded me more of Beamish than Guinness, but better than both.

Yes, a Guinness-clone, on nitro, at St Patricks Day...and thats strike three for me. Nice pleasant and attractive pour, rich head, reverse cascade, etc. etc. The first thing I notice in tasting is the overly nitro-ed creaminess, too artificial and annoying. The second thing I notice is the strange dicotomy between the intense creaminess and the very watery texture. The flavors of chocolate and coffee arent bad! And the strong bitter finish is much appreciated. This is an obvious attempt to brew a beer for the Irish holiday, which, in Chicago, lasts all month! So from a commercial aspect this probably makes good sense.

A Guinness-clone replete with cascade, deep black/brown body and a long-standing, tan, creamy head. Aromas are roasty and chocolaty with burnt malt edges and a dash of alcohol when warm. Smooth and malty with a healthy dose of milk chocolate. Quite creamy, although a little watery. This actually has better flavor than Guinness Draught (which I rated a 3.4), having a better chocolate presence and less "soapiness".

theres a weird competing coffee and vomit aroma. It looks great. Awesome texture. Some good coffee flavors and a little smoke.

poor aroma (hard to smell). great texture, a more chocolatey Guenniess by most measures. Surprisngly alcoholic taste emerges when this beer warms up somewhat. thats why im lowballing the flavor.

Very good Guinness like dry stout. Very smooth nice dark, dark brown/black coloring. Pours a prefect nitrogen head. Light malted aroma a bit nutty the finish is great because it left me a little dry and I had to have a few more. Also very good with Flossmoors Aught Six ale for a black & tan.
