Aroma: 6/10; Appearance: 8/10; Flavor: 6/10; Palate: 9/10; Overall: 11/20
On tap at the brewpub on 4/28/06: Pours a rich opaque with dark brown edges and a nicely lacing dark tan nitro head. Aroma of semi-sweet, dark roasty, but mild maltiness. Body starts lightly roasty and sweet with mild toasted flavor, finishing with good viscosity that still goes down smooth with lingering, lightly sweet roasty malts with dark chocolate character. heemer77 (5361) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - JUN 6, 2006
The body was black with a light orange and tan colored head. This left a lot of lace on the glass. The aroma was coffee with some chocoalte. There was also a hintof grass. The taste was muted with chocolate and roasted peanut shells. There was a decent roasted character. bu11zeye (13239) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - MAY 25, 2006
(Nitro) Pours an opaque black body with a moderate creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Falvor of roasted malt, coffee, and a hint of chocolate and licorice. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel with a dry finish. goldtwins (4319) - Nesconset, New York, USA - MAY 8, 2006
Draft @ Flossmoor Station: Black with a tan head. Nice aroma of chocolate and coffee. Sweet and roasty malt. The flavor matched the aroma with chocolate and a big roasty malt. Creamy and silky mouthfeel. Soft carbonation.

Rich, sweet, roasted malt aroma. Light brown head. Excellent lace. Fully opaque body. Smooth, roasted, milky stout. Too dry. Not enough balance. Not as good as Guiness. hopscotch (11434) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 1, 2006
Draft... Pre-DLD06... Black ale with a mid-sized, creamy, lightly tanned head. Excellent retention. Aroma of vanilla beans and chocolate. Chocolately, balanced flavor with a lightly bitter coffee note. Medium-bodied and creamy with pillow-soft carbonation. Excellent example of the style. Brilliant! sliffy (2040) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - APR 30, 2006
On tap at the brewpub: Black pour with a creamy light tan head. Some roasty coffe notes, chocolate as well. Kind of a thin mouthfeel, some slight bitterness, with a roasty finish. Thought it reminded me more of Beamish than Guinness, but better than both. 1FastSTi (3358) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - APR 30, 2006
Pours to a black body with a very dense tan head. Thick lacing. The aroma is chocolatey, black malt, typical Irish Stout. The flavor is chocolatey, milken, sweet lactose, slight wood. The palate is the typical Irish stout. Nitrogenated feel. Cornfield (5569) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - MAR 24, 2006
As has been noted repeatedly, this is a Guinness clone- a bit more chocolatey, a bit more watery - but a Guinness clone. I’m not a fan of nitro-ed ales, muting all that makes them good, but this retained a nice bitter, dry finish nonetheless.
