Bottle shared at Natifest 12. Poured a black color with a large frothy brown head that was mostly lasting and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted malt bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Draft at the brewpub. Didn’t know this was imperialized, which is a complement given how well balanced yet robust this was. Lots of chocolate, smoke, and a touch of anise in the nose. Full body, light but lively carbonation, and a very nice, smooth schwarz for such a big beer. Roasted but pert, a good one. GT (10001) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 3, 2012
