The nose on this is very reminiscent of a dry red wine. This comes through in the flavor, too. Very biting and almost sour in flavor. zebra (2384) - Illinois, USA - FEB 21, 2012
served in a snifter, so the person i was with thought it really was wine! JoePeesie (924) - Long Lake, Illinois, USA - FEB 19, 2012
Enjoyed at the HiFi Release. Pours a murky brownish red. Nose and taste are sweet and malty there is a bit of oil hop viciousness on the finish. A very solid BW glad I got to try it. deyholla (12582) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 18, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy amber brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of sweet grain and caramel with backing light fruit and a hint of pine. Flavor has more hops with grapefruit and pineapple but is still mainly sweet grains and caramel. msante79 (2244) - Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA - FEB 18, 2012
On tap at the station. Pours a clear amber copper with small off-white head. Aromas of caramel malts and a bit of light fruit. Flavors of caramel, light bread, sweet malts, and some bitterness in the finish. Really lacks flavor and umph for a barley wIne.

Pour on tap at the brewpub (Flossmoor, IL). Last leg of the Michigan Birthday Run. Pours a rich well hazed deeper amber glowing pour, dulled, with a rich offwhite head, dies to a thicker film, laces ok overall. Aromas are caramel, toffee, touches of fruity citrus, gentle spices, and mellow lemon florals, dry citrusy hops. Initial is dry, medium bodied with a rich hoppy presence. Dry, floral, earthy. Middle is mellow sweetness, hops generally take over, dry and rich, with some good spice, citrusy grapefruit. Finish is mellow and fairly dry overall, gentle sweeter girthy malts, some spice. Simple, mellow yet well balanced. Not complex but enjoyable.
