From notes. Enjoyed at a tasting Kyle finally made it to at Mickey’s on December 01. 22 oz bottle, 2010 vintage. The pour is a thin clear reddish brown color with a thick off white head that leaves a lot of soapy lace as it falls down to a thin ring. The aroma is just awful. There is so much smoke, which I hate anyways, but it’s just wet cardboard and heavy oxidation. The flavor is much of the same. Heavy smoke, wet cardboard, light dark fruits, but I can’t hardly drink it. The mouth feel is slick and watery with a sharper carbonation and a lingeringly smoky and cardboard dominance. Not my jam at all. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - AUG 10, 2014
(Backlog) Bottle. Dark brown pour with tan head. Tons of sweetness, alcohol, roasted and dark malt aromas. Flavors are also big, dark and sweet, roasted and has a bit of warmth. Boutip (6486) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 17, 2014
Bottle: Poured a deep clear brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of cherry wood smokiness with some light roasted malt notes is very pleasing. Taste is a well-balanced mix between some cherry wood smokiness with some light roasted malt profile. Light chocolate notes and dry fruits are also noticeable. Body is a bit light for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very nice example of the style which might have been even better with less age on this bottle. Pour is black with a small off-white head. Aroma is very sweet and malty with subtle roast and smoke notes in the background. Flavor is a bit more mellow than I would have expected with notes of raisins, cherries, and chocolate. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - AUG 31, 2013
Bottle sampled at rbsg. From notes. Berry and smoke with a little chocolate and barnyard. Very good.

Bottle in Chicago with TheAlum. Thanks Adam! Pours a hazy reddish brown appearance with a small tan head. Somewhat smoky, light anise, vanilla, a bit meaty, mild chocolate aroma. Somewhat meaty smoky, dark chocolate, light fruity, caramel flavor. A bit old but not bad. BVery (11238) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - OCT 27, 2012
Bottle at Darkness Day 2012. Brown pour with a clingy white head. Slightly sweet, nice roastiness, very solid beer. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - OCT 7, 2012
Thanks Geist. Chocolate and a bit of sweetness. Roast and mild oxidation and a slight oakish character. Light and not enough depth. Huhzubendah (3736) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 24, 2012
The beer is dark brown with a quarter inch of oily beige head. The aroma offers smoke, booze, oak. Reminiscent of a rauchbier. Smoke presence throughout with only a hint of sausage. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Pretty tasty beer. I’m glad I got to try it. Dedollewaitor (16357) - Odense, DENMARK - AUG 17, 2012
