3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber purchased @ release 3/20. [A] Wonderful boquet of floral and citrus aromas. Caramel. Maltiness is that of barleywine. Bready rye notes. [A] Very thick and oily looking brownish red pour. Nice cap of tan foam rising beautifully from the glass. [F] Not the rye monster I was expecting. This is very balanced. Not too sweet. Earthy flavors. Pleasant hop character really shines at this point. Rye. Caramel. Spiciness. [P] Mouthfeel is quite unlike anything I’ve had for awhile. Very heavy. Oily. But yet soft, silky and pillowy textured. No harsh booze. 11% is surprising. [O] Nice release from Bryan and Flossmoor Station. A barrel should warm this up nicely. I could drink a couple bombers, had I purchased more than 2.
2014 bottle thanks to TheAlum! Pours hazy hazel, small off-white head, dissipates leaving decent residual and lacing. Aroma is rich and malty, dark sugars and pumpernickle bread. Flavor is pretty sweet, light bitterness and a bit of a bite from the rye, toffee, dark bread, hints of smoke. Medium plus body, smooth mouthfeel. Pretty solid barleywine. I can see why this ages well in bourbon barrels. kermis (14478) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - SEP 26, 2016
Bottle shared. Hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, spice, overripe dark fruit, toffee and caramel. Flavour is light heavy sweet and light moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Zlotta (3728) - Hagen / Düsseldorf, GERMANY - JUL 27, 2016
UPDATED: JUL 28, 2016 Sampled from 0.65 l bottle at 9.5% abv, shared by kermis at Not THT, thanks! Slightly hazy, brownish amber with an off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly spicy aroma of caramel, brown sugar, nuts and spices (caraway?). Rather sweet, malty and quite spicy taste of caramel, honey, brown sugar, nuts and spices, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, a bit warming-alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, rather oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice! Maakun (6297) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - JUL 27, 2016
Bottle shared. Hazy dark orange golden with creamy beige head. Lots of spices in an almost citrus way which I guess are the caraway seeds, strong rye, citrusy hops, cardboard, light grassy, caramel, fudge, brandy. Quite sweet with lingering bitter finish. Full bodied with sticky feel but also a bit thin boozy finish. Very decent. sjogro (4648) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - JUL 27, 2016

bottle shared with 2 friends. had the barrel aged version a few months ago. wich was incredible. poured a hazy dark orange colour with a slight off head on top. nose is filled with sweet sticky rye, caramel, cloves, fainted red fruits, and sticky toffee. marzipan and a note of butterscotsch. taste is quite bitter in the in. wich surprised me. since this if 5 years old by now. lots of sweet sticky flavors. balanced with a strong bitterness. not as good as the bourbon version. Bomber 2012 vintage poured a clear reddish amber with a small lasting creamy amber head. Aromas of rye, earthiness, citrus, spice and light cocoa. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of rye, earthiness, caraway and light citrus with a smooth lingering rye finish. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 1, 2014
Bomber. Poured medium orange with a short-lived, but easily-resuscitated beige head. The aroma picked up sweet honey, vanilla, and lesser molasses accented by spicy rye, orange meat, and light oxidation.. loved it! The flavor found honey, licorice, and molasses sweetness at the core, with lots of black pepper, rye, and orange liqueur laced throughout.. dried out and scorched the back of the mouth a little (in a good way).. long, warm finish with great carryover orange and peppery rye. Heavier-bodied with full carbonation on the palate.. this held up remarkably well!
