Since you hop heads cant seem to get enough, we are trying our best to keep an IPA of one kind or another on year round. This is out newest incarnation. Imperial Dwarf is made with 100% Summit dwarf hops, a new variety from Brewer Supply Group. Its citrusy like many high alpha hops, but Summit tends towards the orange and tangerine spectrum rather than grapefruit like Amarillo does. There are a lot of hops, but plenty of body to balance them out.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2008 pours orange with off-white head. aroma of delicious cirtus, orange, maybe a bit of lemon peel, evergreens. flavor is bitter with the citrus flavors promised in the nose. the bitterness stays with you for a long time, which is fine with me. one of flossmoors better ipas.

Draft 4-28-06. Pours amber with decent white head. Great lacing. Pine aroma up front, rather muted with no backbone whatsoever. Flavor again all pine up front with very minimal malt/caramel balance towards the finish. Huge residuel pine resin aftertaste. Tad one-dimensional for my liking.

On tap at the brewpub on 4/28/06: Pours a clear bright copper bronze with a thin, wispy off-white head. Big fresh west coast American hoppy aroma has nice citric grapefruity flavor and good caramel malty balance. Body starts with a nice caramel malty sweetness, lots of fresh citrus hops toward a slightly warming, crisp, bittersweet finish. A nicely-balanced Imperial IPA.

Hazy, copper-hued, with a pillowy tan head. Floral aroma with some spicey notes, including hemp, and some citrus. Powefully bitter, but with a good deal of sugary sweetness to keep things in balance. Wonderfully complicated flavors are thrown off by the hops--apricot, hemp, violets, orange. Very nice.

(draught at the brewpub) medium amber gold. Almost no head but very nice lace. Citrus hops aroma. Flavor is pine and citrus with a nice malt balance. Really solid IIPA.

On tap at the brewpub. The body was deep orange. The aroma was definite grapefruit with some toasted almonds. There was also some toffee. The taste was walnuts and toffee with a lot of toast. There was a little bit of peanut shells in the finish. A medium mouthfeel. A pretty good IIPA. Fairly mild for the style.

Pours a dark golden color. Lots of sweet hop aroma in this one. The flavor is sweet malty upfront with a ton of hop bitterness in the backend making it way out of balance. More malt/alcohol would balance this out a little better than it is. Im not sure what makes this a Double IPA other than the amount of hops used.

From a growler provided by Tom and Nancy, sampled at the Corkscrew Urbanas weekly beer tasting. Thanks to Tom and Nancy for bringing this one down. I remember thinking a few weeks ago that I should have had it on tap when we were there, so Im glad that I had another opportunity. Onto the beer, theres something special about a beer made entirely of one hop, and this one even more so given the use of the Summit dwarf. I was pleasantly surprised, although not overwhelmed. Its clearly a well made beer with good malt undertones and excellent aroma. However the finish had an odd note of butterscotch and acidity that I found unpleasant. Theres certainly a lot of pine and grapefruit for the hop fans.

From a growler from Nancy (mamabeer) and Tom. Deep amber/copper with a small frothy white head. Have to agree with Carl (Cornfield), the aroma is awesome and satisfying. Grapefruit, tangerine, orange, a citrus medley. So refreshing. Malt sweetness and a touch of spice. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. The flavor is crisp, clean and refreshing. Delicious citrusy, fruity flavor, nice balance of sweetness and bitterness. Perfect summer brew. One of the best things Ive had from Flossmoor and one of the best IPAs.
