TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - NOV 14, 2012
Draft on tap at the brewpub (Flossmoor, IL). Sampler size. Pours a nice near transparent golden orange hue, darker glow in the middle, small offwhite frothy head dies to a small ring, laces small. Aromas are pumpkin, the vegetal roasty kind, kisses of cinnamon and nutmeg. A bit of caramel, bread, roasty and toasty quality is a nice change of pace from the sweet sticky brooding type. Initial is lighter end of the fold, pumpkin, kiss of orange, bread, pumpkin flavors. A touch of earth, the middle shows bread, roasted pumpkin, gentle toast, vanilla, cinnamon. Touch of carmelization. A bit more of a dry finish, pie spice hangs on a bit more firmly than earlier on. Bread, dryness, spice, a bit of cool earthy spice. Solid pumpkin lager, light, more natural pumpkin flavors. Not pie-spice and sweet centered or focused like a lot of beers. Quite pleasant.
