4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUL 29, 2008 Draft pint at Flossmoor. Guess I liked it even more than these other Flossmoor boosters. Pours cloudy, kind of rusty brown with a 1/2" foamy head. Smells of pine citrus, mostly grapefruit, and spruce resin. Taste brings up Gumballhead levels of alphas for the prickly "catbox" taste; the kind men like. Foam tickles and prickles at my upper lip. Crystal and caramel malt, lots of dry-hopping for a bitter aftertaste that lingers for hours. This is still barely out of the tank. No one else will have as fresh and yummy as we have!
From Sept 2008
I got this bottle in a trade with joe1510. Thanks Joe!
Blue waxed bottle=Lady Columbia. I did my homework. ;^)
With a vigorous pour, I get a +1 finger head of foam with some lacing. It's a nice hazy amber gold in colour. Very nice looking brew in the glass and the foam, albeit a thin solid layer, stayed for the entire session.
The smell is strong on the hops; Floral, citrus, and some pine but I also can smell some caramel malt. Good nose.
The taste has the hops up front, right in your face...floral and citrus mostly with some pine bringing up the rear, so to speak, where actually, a rather big dose of caramel malt moves in, with a touch of earthy notes and, voila! We have some balance! We have some balance! There's also some fruitiness lingering in the background that I guess also adds some sweetness. Yum!The smell is very similar, I think, to what I get out of Odell's IPA but the taste takes a different route, ie more balance. ;^) Ok, don't get me wrong when I say this has some balance. The overall flavour still leans solidly toward the hoppy side but the malt presence is certainly nothing to sneeze at.
The mouthfeel is on the high end of medium, the carbonation is on the high end of low, and it finishes with some dry hopped bitterness that lingers, much to my non dismay.
Bottom line: A very tasty and very satisfying and very drinkable IPA(drinks like a DIPA as there's some warming) from Flossmoor indeed as I cannot find much fault with it. I can't wait to try the Burgundy waxed bottle...
Thanks again, Joe! valpoaj (755) - Valparaiso, Indiana, USA - MAY 6, 2012
delayed entry...pours murky copper with thin white head that has some staying power. aroma not very bold, but piney hops are dominating here. flavor is quite good and balanced...some sweet citrus notes but also some wood, pine as well. palate is heavy for a ’single’ IPA, and is quite oily. good offering...wish I could’ve tried some of the others! Bomber. Cloudy bright copper almost peachy with a thin lasting white head. Aroma is dank weed with minty spruce tips, pine needle, grass and big juice grapefruit pear and pomello. Flavor is light grassy cracker, light caramel malts, toast, good resinous hop juice, sticky tacky finish with more grapefruit and orange, mint and pine. No garlic noticed which is good for using lots of columbus. Nice. beerbuzzmontreal (3486) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 9, 2010
The pour reveals a cloudy, orangey color with a thin white head. Very appealing aroma of resinous hops and toasted malt. Very good flavor of resinous hops and toasted malt, it’s also slightly sweet. The body is light to medium with an oily texture and gentle carbonation. This is an excellent, well-balanced IPA. frankenkitty (2014) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - JUN 5, 2009
Pours golden amber, apparently thick with uneventful carbonation under a thick, creamy and holding yellowhite head. Even after aging close to a year, the hop nose is rife with citrus and pine with only some low dishwater notes beneath to detract. Mmmmm... a rather harsh and pungent pine bitterness to the flavor is carried by a weighty body which, when conjoined with its astringent palate, prolongs said bitterness long after the swallow. While I like a good IPA, this is actually a bit over the top for me to drink an entire bomber (almost like a DIPA), but you hop-heads will be head over heels. ~~~~~~~~ Purchased July 2008 at FSRB, consumed June 2009.

(Rating #2420) MartinT (10155) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 24, 2009
My Bottom Line:hopdog (13191) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 3, 2009
The diligent hoppiness of this masterful India Pale Ale develops citrusy, resinous and piney melodies that lull toasted and honeyed malts into a state of wellbeing rarely seen in my neck of the beer woods.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam surrounds the misty amber.
-Balance is achieved throughout even though the Columbus
-The mouthfeel is a cushion of which the tongue relaxes instantly.
-These guys really know how to brew flavorful IPAs!
22oz, blue waxed bottle, acquired in trade with BrianDorry55 (thanks!). Poured a medium and lightly hazy amber/golden color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of earthiness, floral, and citrus. Tastes of the same earthiness, pine, floral, and citrus. Some malitiness in the tastes as well. TomDecapolis (4636) - Milton, Delaware, USA - APR 2, 2009
Thanks to hopdog for sharing. Pours a hazy golden orange with a smaller bubbly white head. Aroma of orange, floral and grapefruit. Flavor of pine, grapefruit, toffee and nuts. OldGrowth (3665) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - MAR 19, 2009
Bottle, from trade with GeneralGao ,blue wax bottle. Good aroma, bitter sweet. Yeasty, grapefruit, floral notes, little grainy, little date, little harsh. Cloudy brownish orange color, ok head, good lace. Bitter flavor, citrus, grapefruit mainly, Medium body, smooth creamy mouth feel, bitter dry finish. Tasty brew, I liked aroma a little more than flavor, flavor had a little astringent streak about it that was a turn off, but not a major detraction.
