On cask at GTMW - Pours hazy amber with a thin white ring of head. Nose is wheat and a bit of strawberry--pretty indistinct. Nose is sour and smooth, with light dusty yeast and a touch of tartness one the finish. Smooth and velvety, like pretty much all the cask entries I tried. Decent, but overall very forgettable. The first visit of the day was the Real Ale tent (of course). Making a beeline for Flossmoor’s cask sour I was not overly impressed. While it is fairly solid it just lacks the punch of previous efforts. The hay colored body is a mix of tart strawberries, hay, and brett. With a sour finish it doesn’t impress. I was ready to move on after only one pour.
Cask on tap at Great Taste of the Midwest 2011 (Madison, WI). Pours a murky well hazed murky golden dulled hue, dulled egdes with a decent frothy whitish head that dies to a ring. Small lacing. Aromas are strawberries, bread dough, flaked wheat, and a touch of sour lemon. Bread yeast, light barnyardy and dusty funk. Initial is light tart, rich strawberry presence, touches of spice, lemons, bread dough, flaked wheat, and white pepper. Backend throws more tart lemon, a touch of dryness. Finish offers more fruit, lingering tartness, and touches of bread dough, faint spice. A light wild yeast presence that’s young, just a touch of tartness and a bit more dusty brett. The base Hefe and fruit still come through. Ok summer drinker. Drake (14078) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 14, 2011
Sampled on cask at GTMW 2011. Pours a hazy orange color with a thin head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma of tart fruits, berries, banana, citrus, mild funk. The taste is earthy notes and tart berries. Medium bodied.
