3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: SEP 23, 2004 Draft. This one might get lost in a place where hoppy IPAs are the standard. Nice, slightly hazy copper body, with a head that coats the sides of the glass. Though lower in IPAs, hops are still a big part of the flavor profile. These lend bitterness and a grapefruit nose, I'm supposing Cascade or Northern Brewer and a bit of Amarillo. Malts are lessened, but there's a light toasty character. Probably not too big on alcohol. Matt's not here today, (apparently at the Big Border Bash, serving up the last of the Train Wreck of Flaver, drat him!) so I couldn't get all the details. But this rating finally makes me the rater who's had the most Flossmoor Station beers!... for now.
Just to clear up confusion over the name: "Pale Hose" is a nickname for the White Sox. Matt put this on tap at the same time as "Break the Curse Weizen Bock," in reference to the Cubs' inability to win a World Series within living memory.
On tap at the brewpub. Much lighter in flavor, mouthfeel, and appearance than their IPA. Good. Quite well-balanced. Nice up front aroma hoppiness with slight dry bitterness at the end. Me likee...Besides, if drinking this beer will help take the Sox to the Series and prevent the Cubs from even making the playoffs, I’m in!
