Draft at Flossmoor. Pours a nice, deep copper red color. Very pleasant hoppy nose. Lasting frothy head. Nose contains hoppy fruitiness with some minor spice and caramel notes. Taste is typical amber, with distinct crystal malt taste complimented by a pleasant bitterness of C-hop type hops. Nice. JaBier (7972) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - DEC 15, 2008
Sample at Flossmoor Station. Pours a red amber with no head. Aroma is very hoppy and citrusy. Flavor has a nice hop and malt balance. Not knocking my socks off, but a decent drinkable red ale. ajm (1072) - Los Angeles, California, USA - NOV 28, 2008
Tap at the Station. Nice enough red aroma with a rather full flavor. Sweeter malt keeps graininess in check. Not an apple sweet but rather sweet all the same. A great red beer! DSG (14784) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - NOV 28, 2008
(10/14/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Flossmoor. Clear amber color with an off-white head. Aroma of slightly flowery and slightly earthy hops and a bit of toasted malt. Sweetish malty flavor, a bit caramelly, with a bitter hoppy finish. Medium-bodied. puzzl (3258) - New York, New York, USA - OCT 27, 2008
Tap at the brewpub. Strong amarillo and grapefruit aroma with a minor caramelly malt backbone. Flavor is biting and visceral but never harsh, like a good IPA. There is some malt in there but it never gets intrusive like most ambers. Good stuff here.

Intensely hoppy amber ale.

Very hoppy, resinous, grapefruity aromas are accompanied by a brilliant toasty maltiness that has an ingenious smoky touch to it. Juicy toasted malts are a fine fit to the hops, leaving them the main stage, but supporting the fruitiness farther. Really tasty hops and surprisingly complex.
The hop abuse produced a lot of acidity and I would probably not want another glass for that very reason, which, considering the joyous overall appreciation, is not a good sign.
Really good for a red ale. Red pour with an off-white head. Malty, spicey aroma. Flavor is sweet and hoppy, some spice. The hops are really impressive. Great ale. kseecs16 (1216) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - AUG 25, 2008
Draught at a tasting at the pub 8/23/08. Amber with a thin off white head. Quite malty nice rich sweet body. Hops evident with a piney character. Good with more of a hop character than you’d expect and a really rich robustness in the body. One of the better ambers I’ve had from a style that usually bores me.

On tap at the station on 7/10/08. Pours an amber red with an off white head. Lots of tropical fruit, hops and malt coming from the sample glass. Flavors of caramel and toffee malt with lots of tropical fruit, grapefruit, bubblegum and a strong bitterness. Wow, I had no idea this was going to be so good. A hoppy and delicous amber. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 10, 2008
