Cloudy orange. Lots of citrus on the nose - grapefruit, tangerine - and a touch of woodsy, pine notes. A bit f caramell, then a hoppy, citrusy finish. I fpressed, I’d say it smells a bit better than it tastes, but its still tastes pretty good. Thanks to Heemer for bringing this to Noogfest 4! brentfeesh (1216) - Mansfield, Ohio, USA - JUN 2, 2008
750ml bottle thanks again to Heemer for sharing at Noog4. Orange-amber pour with a wispy head. Tons of citrus in the nose (apricot, orange) and just a touch of spruce. Very aromatic. YUMMY. Wonderfully integrate fruit flavors run all through this one (primarily grapefruit and orange) with a touch of spruce at the finish and a solid but in no way overpowering presence of caramel. Semi-dry med-full body. Great Stuff. auerbrau (3206) - Ithaca, New York, USA - MAY 31, 2008
22oz Bottle. Gold wax. Nice hoppy aroma. Complex spicy, juicy fresh citrus. Great full nose. Creamy, chewy great hop base. Pours a clouded orange-yellow with a rim of white silky. Flavor is a rich, bready complex citrus flavor. Very chewy and juicy. Lots of spicy, tropical fruit and alcohol. Salty. This is a great fresh IPA. Excellent. A top class IPA. It’s hard to pin down exactly what about this beer makes it so great, but the deft hop flavor extraction, soft smooth fruitiness of the hops and the integration with the base and the well hidden alcohol make this a fantastic version. In short: A refreshing and very tasty hop-fix. One of the best IIPA I’ve ever had.MoDog (928) - Griffith, Indiana, USA - MAY 22, 2008
How: Tab at brewpub. Pre-Dark-Lord-Day party 2008
The look: Cloudy dark-orange body with a medium off-white head
In long: BIG nose of grapefruits and citrus fruits. Taste expands on the nose. While the caramelized malt backbone is very adequate it is totally outshined by the hopping. Grapefruits, citrus fruits, pine cone juice and some orange. Body is a big fluffy. This beer is tasty, refreshing, juicy and well balanced. Certainly one of the best IIPA I’ve ever had. To compare it to well-known high-class IPAs I’d say that the Pretty Big IPA comes out like a cross between AleSmith IPA and 3F Dreadnaught. Women and IIPAs are really two different beasts. I really enjoy a bitter IIPA but I like a sweet woman, I really enjoy a cold IIPA but I like a warm woman, I really enjoy a Pretty Big IPA but…
Poured from a 22oz gold-waxed bomber and served in a tulip. This beer poured a hazy amber with a very thin head of lasting beige foam. A nice coating of lace was left behind. The aroma of the beer was made up of grapefruit, peach, honey, and graham cracker. The flavor consisted of grapefruit, mango, graham cracker, and sticky toffee. The mouthfeel was full-bodied with minimal carbonation. Nice and heavy without being overly sticky or resiny. Matt and Andrew put out some really good IPAs, but I think I may have a new favorite at Flossmoor.

22 oz. bomber shared by barleyPops. Thanks!!! Wow, Flossmoor never fails to deliver. Orange/red pour with a slightly off-white head. Grapefruit and citrus dominate the aroma. Some bready malt is present as well to add some decent complexity. Flavor matches the aroma well. Very smooth drinking, medium mouthfeel. An excellent IIPA! A dark orange apperance with a moderate sized white head. The aroma is rather herbal with some citrus, perfume, and caramel. Still hint of wacky weed in the nose but not as much as the XIPA. The flavor contains some herbal notes with grapefruit and lemons showing. Overall a good one! hopscotch (11552) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 17, 2008
Draft... DLD’08... Murky amber/orange ale with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Excellent retention. The aroma is bursting at the seams with earthy, citric and Simcoe hops... cat piss, grapefruit and pine with an afterthought of toffee. Full-bodied and creamy with reserved carbonation. Citrusy grapefruit pith and bitter rind. Well-balanced finish with a tangy snap at the wee end. mcmd (315) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - MAY 14, 2008
22oz from the brewpub. Pours a hazy golden orange with a nice white head. Aromas of honey, caramel, citrus hops. Taste a very nice balance of sweet caramel malt at first and then the hops come thru with a pleasant bitterness at the finish. An almost perfect example of an IPA. 22oz bottle. Thanks to Mike for sharing this. Poured a hazy medium orange color with a foamy white head. Smelled of citrusy hops (orange, grapefruit, lemon) with malty caramel just in the background. Medium bodied with fairly strong hop bitterness of about 7 out of 10. The flavor is citrus-hop dominated with a delicately sweet malty caramel backbone. Delicious.
