COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This robust, dark brown ale gets its rich flavor from seven different malts and three types of hops. The addition of hand-toasted oats and a generous portion of molasses give the Pullman Nut Brown Ale an incredible smoothness and quaffability.

Appearance: Holey moley! Im pouring foam into my glass not beer! Every time i pour, it comes out foam with very little body. The light brown head looks gorgeous though all frothy and whipped. My wife says it looks like a root beer float. After several minutes i eventually see the opaque dark brown body. Though off-putting a little, it looks really nice once it settles down. Smell: Molasses, chocolate and brown sugar. Nice bitter edge to it. Taste & Mouthfeel: Combining these together because the carbonation is way out of hand on this one. I get a little bit of molasses but the carbonation is literally hurting my tongue. I let calm down for awhile and try again. Carbonation is still high but i do get some coarse chocolate and burnt sugar. Other than that, nothing and not quite pleasant i must say. Drinkability: Not really. My wife couldnt continue after a few sips but i tried to give it a chance but i couldnt finish my glass. The astringent taste and overly excessive carbonation kills it for me. My first time drinking anything from this brewery. Im surprised to see how many beers they have produced and yet Im just now learning of this brewery in my home state! Poured from a pint can which did not say NUT brown however all other facts are the same. Pour is so black light cant penetrate it...has a huge long lasting tan head which is beautiful and thick. The head dissipates slowly and the glass of beer left behind has amazingly so the lowest amount of carbonation Ive ever experienced. Its smooth and a tad sweet but I do not get the nut flavor. No doubt the dark color and the slight sweetness is from the black strap.

I tried this brown ale many of times and it was consistent each time. Smooth, with semi sweet from molasses, creamy mouth-feel, toffee, roasted chocolate malt, full bodied ale. Almost a smokey malt nose, thick but easy drinking, pairs well with most meals. Black brown in color with a nice refined head. Try if you can.

Bottle. Pours a dark opaque brown with lasting cream head, no lacing. Aroma is "brown chocolate basement" (thanks Huhzubendah) and chocolate dust. Flavor is "Diet Palo Santo" - solid, but not as good overall. Notes 2/15/10.

[Tap] Clear dark brown pour with a thin beige colored head. Nose is of caramel malts and a distinct nuttiness. Taste is mostly of darker roasted malts, pecan and milk chocolate. Dry and earthy grains in the finish. OK palate with moderate carbonation. A nice beer. Tasting notes from 11/2011.
