Draft, pours clear gold with white head. Nose is floral and lemony. Flavor is lemon, grainy, honey. A decent pale that’s a little old at this point. DrnkMcDermott (3130) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - NOV 1, 2010
Draft sampler at FSRB. I tried this after the hop bomb that was rail hopper, so this one "pales" in comparison (nyuck!). A lighter color than the IPA, not as much foam. I find crystal malts and their caramel smell and taste before I find the hops. So I have an American Pale Ale single-hopped with a British hop, and this demonstrates the smoother bittering than we’re used to. Still malty and smooth, with a slight hop edge to it. I had a few of these at the mug club tapping. Decent pour, a somewhat hazy gold body with a frothy head that laced the glass unevenly. The aroma was light pale malt, slightly biscuity, with some grassy and citric hop scents. Fairly balanced to the taste, the hops added more flavor than bitterness. Quaffable. dm9831 (1512) - Monee, Illinois, USA - OCT 18, 2010
hazy gold, respectable off white head, quite lacy. nose lightly malty with mild hops. flavoe follows teh nose, malty ans mildly hoppy. medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel, light bitter finish. a refreshing enough brew, but a touch too mild for my jaded palate. sampled at a flossmoor station mug club tapping. Draft at the Oak Park Microbrew Review (Oak Park, IL). Pours a glowing golden hazy pour, a decent frothy bright white head stays a small film, laces ok. Aromas are crisp pale bready malts, dank floral and grassy hops, some peppery flourishes. Initial is lighter bodied, some bready malts, a touch of crackers, light floral and grassy hops. A touch of peppery, light florals, lighter bodied with a light grainy and floral finish. A nice smooth APA, lighter flavors, summer sessioner. A bit thin bodied, but I think the fact that they kegged this right out of the fermenter, before actual release of the beer at the brewpub might be a reason. Still, Brewers Gold is a bit dull. A tasty light summer pale ale with decent hopping bitterness, a bit of a vague hop profile.
