A so-so saison I have had a few better. I would still not complain if this was the best offering but overall I like my saisons with a bit more depth to them. I also do not like ones that become cloying before you finish the first pint.
Aroma / Appearance - The pillowy soft white head and reddish amber body filtered out the sunlight trickling through the windows. Mangos, hay, cinnamon cloves, and orange juice filled the air with sweetness. Loose and airy it was not constrained to the space above the glass.
Flavor / Palate - Oranges, cloves, and bales of hay were dry but fruity. Almost like a liquid orange scone minus the raisins it was certainly filling. The booziness detracts from a solid experience and only gets more cloying as the beer warms to near room temperature. Flossmoor has done better saisons in the past.
Sampled at GABF. Nice, yeasty, fruity aroma. Flavor is somewhat spicey, with yeast and citrus. This was the standout of flossmoor station stuff at GABF. Pretty awesome saison.

9/29/09 notes: GABF session two. Another great beer by Flossmoor. Pours gold, with a nose of sweet dried fruit and funk. Flavors dance around in a brett-influenced way, earthy, estery, funky, dried mango. Quite nice Saison-style ale. notalush (5866) - Denver, Colorado, USA - SEP 26, 2009
GABF2009 - an intensely bitter and highly aromatic and flavorful saison - a lot of herbal and floral bitterness is tempered by a honey sweetness that eventually takes over the beer - some peppery character and spicy rye late - some orange peel tanginess late - clean finish - a bit too heavy to be refreshing - a decent saison. GTMW 2009: Hazy amber hue with a very good head and spotty lace. The aroma has a complex character of Belgian yeast, grains of paradise, coriander, noble hops, grassy, biscuity and toffee malts, and some woody esters. The taste has a light acidic fruity note along with moderate spice, biscuity malts and earthy yeast undertones. The mouth feel displays moderate carbonation, chewy and dry. Surprisingly well done, the spice additions add and don’t overpower the base beer. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 22, 2009
