On tap at the brewpub, pours a hazy orange/amber with a thick white head, the aroma is of citrus and hop resin and a tad bit of tropical fruit, the aroma was much better than the actual flavor, the flavor has a decent amount of orange and mango mixed in but it is extremely thick and syrupy, not easy drinking by any means. When I had this, it was listed simply as "2X IPA." It had a murky dark straw body with a decent head and laced nicely. The aroma was full of grapefruit and zest with a bit of pine. The bready malt backbone was sturdy enough to support a strong hoppy bitterness, but the hop flavors seemed rather jumbled to me. It finished on a dry, moderately bitter note. 12oz pour on tap at the Station. Pours a clouded burnt orange brown with a two finger beige head. Lots of hops rising from the glass. Pine and grapefruit are the primary aromas with a fruitiness that a bit like fruit loops. When I get that aroma I usually think in terms more of a barleywine, and that’s what this was more similar to. Sweet red fruit, doughy malts and a touch of cotton candy with a good dose of those pine and grapefruit flavors. The alcohol is apparent which would leave some to believe this is "cough syruppy". Though bitter, its hardly enough to balance out that sweetness. Its ok, but not all that enjoyable.
