Draft at Jerry’s. Mostly clear, darker gold with fair white head / Elegant nose of banana, citrus, resin, and straw / Full body, not cloying but sweet and syrupy, good hop balance, though, with moderate bitter finish / Stylish but huge flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, gingko, resin, straw, clove, and coriander / These massive saisons are not my taste, but have to say this is well done. On tap at the brewpub. Pretty rough beer in a lot of ways. Attractive enough cloudy gold pour, with a prickly carbonation and disjointed, earthy-looking head. Nose is sharp, boozy, yeasty, an excess that screams lack of character. Sure enough that turns out to be the case. Cloying mouthfeel, harsh and overly sticky beer. As it settles, it mellows out a bit and (as Alum mentioned) if you think of it more as a BSA than a saison it’s diggable. Thechasm442 (1005) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 14, 2012
On draft at the pub in a tulip. Pours a clear yellow gold with a finger length head. Aroma is ginger, pepper, grapefruit, banana, and wet hair. Taste is banana, apricot, bread, ginger, and malts. On tap at station. Pours hazy golden orange with white head. Aromas of light citrus, bready malts, and some spices. Flavors of belgain yeast, spices, orange citrus, and some sweet earthy notes. Some booze and sweetness in the fInish. Big saison and sweet, but enjoyable.

Pour on tap at the brewpub (Flossmoor, IL). Last leg of the Michigan Birthday Run. Pours a rich glowing hazy amber orange hue, good glow, with a small frothy offwhite head that dies to a film and laces small. Aromas are rich ripe fruit, pear and banana mix with Belgian yeast! Some spice. Gentle pepper, bready malts, dough, pear. Some sweetness. Initial is sweeter, a bit heavier than medium bodied with vanilla, rich apple and banana. Very fruity. Middle shows hay, straw, crisp cereal malt thickness, touch of honey. Finish is sweeter, a touch dry, thicker overall. This isn’t really a saison in flavor, girth, and experience. Served in a tulip, this had a hazy straw body with a short head and some slippery lacing. It held an aroma of overly ripe citrus fruit, sweetened pear juice, and ginger. The flavor had mild generic bitterness, old oranges, pear, and ginger. The finish was a tad bit sweet and left a gingery dryness on the tongue. Okay.
