3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap. A very surprising brew. Nice to look at with a very nice, full body. A very earthy aroma - what one would expect from an American-style bitter. Long on the finish. Think I’ll have another.
Pint @ Flyers. Little less flavorful than the amber. Kind of tastes floral, like flowers. Smells grainy with a medium body. Meh... riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - SEP 6, 2010
Nose is malty with light fruity notes - orange, light citrus, a hint of buttery caramel. Pours hazy orange, thin head. Flavors of light fruity malts, soft buttery caramel, toast, and light bitterness. Pretty stylistically on point and very easy to drink. Not too interesting but well done. bhensonb (15188) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 21, 2010
Tap at the brewpub. As Spitfire Best Bitter. Pours orange/gold with a creamy white head. Floral aroma. Creamy medium body. Floral and caramel flavors. Very smooth floral, mild bitter finish. Brilliant. Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAY 1, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Pours deep gold with copper core and thin white head. The aroma has noble hoppiness and grassiness with mild malts and grains off in the background. The taste begins with a quick pulse of sweet malts that are soon vanquished by a hoppy assault of spicy hops, some graininess and a modest level of earthy hops. The hops get pretty tart with bitterness by midway and into the finish. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - DEC 2, 2009
(Draught) Pours a clear yellow body with a small creamy white head. Aroma of grain, honey, cereal, and grass. Flavor of grain, grass, and citrus with a dry, bitter finish.

GABF 2009. Pours clear amber with an average, frothy white head, mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, hay, straw, cereal, meal), light hop (herbs), average yeast (earth) with notes of plum. Light bodied, slick texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness and acidity, moderate bitterness. BillKismet (4057) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 27, 2008
Orange-amber with a small layer of head. English hop dominates aroma with some peripheral citrus. Flavor is again dominant with the English hops--not so much my thing. Musty hop finish. A fairly well-made English style bitter, just not my fancy. Scubatrip (610) - Annandale, Virginia, USA - NOV 30, 2007
On tap at the brewpub, dry on the palate with definite grassy hop notes. A decent selection, but not my favorite beer from Flyers. glkaiser (1214) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 11, 2007
Light, clear copper with small head. Solid hops with a bitter finish. Bready/earthy malt balances well. Crit (3995) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 20, 2007
Hazy amber, small beige head.Nose is fruity and earthy malt. Mellow nutty malt flavor, nice medium strength hop finish
