4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours almost black with a bit of ruby hue. A nice fluffy white head to cap it off. A nice thick lacing clings to glass as I drink it.
Smell is mostly of roasted malt.
The taste is of roasted malt as well as hints of chocolate and a touch of hop bitterness to round out the finish.
This brew goes down smooth and easy. It is a bit on the lighter side for an oatmeal scout and my opinion, but still very nice overall.
A very pleasant brew overall. I put down this rather large glass without any trouble and could have gone for another. I would definitely get this one again.

Tap at sterling place. Very dark brown pour with a medium khaki head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee. Taste is coffee and toasted malt. Pretty smooth mouth feel but it gets a bit watery at the end. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JUN 12, 2013
Tap at sterling place. Dark black pour, white head, minor lacing, medium bodied. Nice roast, good flavor, nice stout. Maybe the best beer they make valpoaj (745) - Valparaiso, Indiana, USA - APR 15, 2013
Bottle with more age on it than intended...pours black with a bountiful tan head - no carbonation worries at least. Aroma is quite inviting - sweet coffee, malt, a lactic note...not bad. Flavor is dull, however...light, sweet malt, hint of oatmeal, milk chocolate...flavors are good, just would like a bit more vibrancy here. Palate is well carbonated...seems appropriate for the style, albeit a little less oily than anticipated. Not half bad - would like to try fresh down the road SoberDave (182) - Escondido, California, USA - FEB 19, 2013
Weak aroma, pours a dark brown. Tastes of roast, coffee some hops and bitterness. Nice bite to it. Certainly nothing wrong with it, just not outstanding. redpooba (406) - Texas, USA - FEB 19, 2013
A another regular black stout with a white head. Nothing really stands out, the body is medium, the nose is minimal, but overall its decently smooth.

UPDATED: APR 8, 2016 On tap at the Brewery. Roastiness and a mild sour note. Dark Brown with a decent thick head and lacing. Coffee, chocolate and some cherry notes. It’s got some good stouty flavor that comes thru at the end.
Had this again at the new Brewery on 4/2/2016 and I enjoyed this more than before. New rating. pete4999 (1445) - Buffalo, New York, USA - FEB 25, 2012
UPDATED: APR 14, 2012 Growler fill from the brewery. Finally! Seems like forever I’ve been waiting for this to come back. Pours a mostly-opaque brown/black with a nice thick head that fades fairly quickly. Definitely smells of chocolate, and tastes of it as well. Very drinkable, I was able to put down the growler in one sitting and I’m not a huge drinker. This is even better than I remember it being in the past. garthicus (2933) - Dublin, IRELAND - DEC 4, 2009
Appearance: Ribena/blackcurrant colour with a small white head. Aroma: Slight smoke and a hint of cream. Flavour: Nice, slightly malty, cream, oats and a long dry finish. Solid enough. hopson (635) - Williamsville, New York, USA - NOV 18, 2009
draft at brewpub- superbly drinkable- a real enjoyable treat, and the best beer FB makes in my opinion. Well done. j12601 (12700) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - AUG 4, 2009
Pouring at BCTC. Pours a clear brown to black with a thin white head. Caramel and wet grain on the nose, with some chocolate, roast, and a hint of coffee. Flavors echo the nose with some chocolate and coffee touches. Finishes with a light bitterness.
