COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Notes of rich coriander spice, bright citrus, and subtle malt backbone greet the nose. On your first sip, the citrus and spice meld with sweet bready notes and Belgian yeast undertones. This complex brew, made with both blood orange and grapefruit zest, is a full-bodied blend of two distinct styles.

TheJestersBeer (2430) - SWEDEN - JUN 14, 2013
UPDATED: JUL 7, 2013 Draught @ Sorbon. Pours a dark brown with a beige head. Hoppy, roasted, resiny aroma, grapefruit, chocolate, ashes, coffee. Dry, medium bodied, mid to´high bitterness, balanced CO2. Taste reflect most of the elements of the aroma, the ashy notes emerge more clearly, as do most of the roasted notes. Feels more like a Black IPA. (2013-06-14)

JDBaker11058 (2178) - Maryland, USA - AUG 21, 2013
Appearance: creamy, very dark brown, light tan head. Aroma: slightly toasted wheat bread, clove, yeast, and some surprisingly bright citrus. Taste: as the aroma indicated. Finish: lingering slightly sweet, fruity, spice flavors. Notes: As advertised, this was basically a very good belgian witbier with some darker, more malty/roasty undertones. Quite pleasant. NoVA Brewfest 2013.

Heavy and flavorful. A good belguim tang hits at the end. Not sure if this was bottle or tap

Black pour, big brown head. Faint chocolaty aroma, chocolaty roasty flavor.

keanex (1799) - Atco, New Jersey, USA - MAR 26, 2014
On tap at Joe Canals West Deptford.
Appearance: The body is murky and opaque with a blakc hue. The head is dense and creamy with a tan hue.
Aroma: The aroma is very mild, hints of bitter orange, a touch of smoke and a slight chalkiness. Very weak.
Taste: The flavor is nicely balanced with hints of cocoa powder and smoke with an underlying crisp orange. The finish lingers a little of cocoa powder. Nice and drinkable.
Palate: Full creamy body with sharp carbonation.
Overall: Lacking a lot of character, but nicely drinkable. This is an interesting style, one I would like to see more of.

Beerathon (1683) - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 12, 2013
This is a fun beer with a bunch of flavors you wouldn’t expect by looking at it. Black in color with thin beige head, but fruity hops are prevalent as are complex make bill.

tcane7 (1674) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 21, 2013
Draft at Pony Bar. Pours a deep brown, near black, with average tan head. Nose of coriander, Belgian spice, citrus, wheat. Medium mouthfeel, fairly sweet, smooth - no bitterness from the dark malts. Interesting beer, definitely drinkable and better than I expected.

strongpieman (1651) - Mount Airy, Maryland, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Draft at Roasthouse pub - 12 oz pour. Didn’t know what to expect however this was excellent. Very complex combination of citrus and spice with the yeast of the wit bier smoothing it out, all in a black beer. Strong recommend.

dbarnold (1127) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - APR 11, 2013
Didn’t taste like a wit at all, but it was pretty tasty. Smooth, very drinkable, and slight roast. The citrus is present, but not overpowering. Good beer.

Tap at Ginger Man. Dark brown pour with tan head that lasts. Very citrusy on the nose with no real aromas that hint at the colour. Some spice. More spice than anything on the palate with some citrusy notes and a hint of roasted character. A strange sot of beer and seems to be missing something.
