COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Have you ever committed an act of violence against your alarm clock? Do you wish that first cup of coffee could be enjoyed in bed, with a hearty side of some goddamn peace and quiet? We have the beer for you: Cold Press Coffee Porter. The second of our 2016 staff-pitched Brewhouse Rarities series, this brew’s rich coffee flavors have a delicate bourbon, chocolate and dried fruit profile that is guaranteed to be the best part of waking up. The Sumatra blend (roasted by One Village in Pennsylvania) we used was first introduced to the beer’s creators – a sales team trifecta of Erin, Brian and Nate – by Bean Rush Cafe in Annapolis.

Why Cold Press?
There is a growing faction among us that fervently believe cold-brew coffee is the best way to enjoy coffee. Cold-brewing takes away most of the acidity that’s typically imparted by high heat, which was a perfect fit for Erin, Brian and Nate’s goal of crafting a more delicate and sessionable coffee beer that could be enjoyed into the warmer months.

This would be my first cup of coffee every morning haha. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Nearly black color with dark brown around the edges. The head is thin with a tan color. Primarily coffee on the nose. The flavor is again coffee with caramel malt and roasted barley in the background.

Black with a huge dark mocha head. Aroma has a lot of roast and ash in it, as well as bitter chocolate, but not necessarily much coffee. Taste again has a lot of roast and dark chocolate, and a mild coffee flavor, but not as pronounced as one would expect. I guess the cold press subdues some of the flavors we’d typically associate with coffee. Very nice lingering chocolate and coffee palate makes this a very nice porter.

dmac (6457) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - JUN 10, 2016
12oz bottle from Xroads. Poured a good looking solid pitch black with a slightly fizzy mocha head. Aroma is like a cup of dark coffee with cream followed by chocolate syrup. Flavor drops off some, old coffee beans, wet dark bread, cream on the end, some cake batter and chocolate muffins. The body is medium at best, seems thin for a coffee porter, and strong fizzy carbonation. Overall it’s okay but I’ve had much better coffee beers.
