Dogtoberfest is a unique beer containing five premium malts. This lager draws its influence from the Vienna Marzen or Oktoberfest style. It is rich and malty with a sweet aroma and deep mahogany color.

Aroma:
Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel and bread.

Appearance:
Hazy/turbid dark orange/brown beer with a slight/medium

Taste/Palate:
Starts slightly/medium sweet with malts and caramel; ends slightly dry with bread.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense and balanced, but lacks complexity. Only has malt flavours, which makes it very simple. Not my type of beer at all. At least the appearance is great.

12 oz. bottle. BBD 02.09.17. 5.6% ABV per the label, so a different recipe. Pours a medium, well retained dark ivory body,, over a clear copper (SRM 17) body........nose is toasted malts with biscuit, cracker, bread,j hints of toffee/caramel, no hops, balance to the malts......taste is mildly hints of sweetness to start, with light toffee/caramel tones, moderate toasted malts with Vienna, Munich tones, becoming dry with mild hop bitterness, balance to the malts.......mouth feel , light of medium body, no alcohol, light carbonation. This is slightly sweeter than typical for the style, but has appropriate malt complexity. It is not a favorite style of mine, but is nicely done. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7

Enjoy by date: Jan. 19, 2017. Clear rust. Dirty-white head shows good retention. Very dull aroma of wet bread, Red Delicious apple, rock candy, concord grape jelly, and a hint of DMS and oxidation. Soft carbonation. Quite fruity initially, with fuzzy DMS colliding with a red apple and starchy, wet paper dullness. Poorly extracted malt is notably flabby and structureless, with its incessant sugars weighing the body down and overshadowing any body-aiding textures. Alcohol generates a moderate sting, as the sugars steadily heighten to create a medicinal effect at the swallow. Fatiguing sugars contribute to a very wet and dully malty finish, with notes of maple sugar and applesauce lingering alongside a hint of DMS. It really doesn’t get much more uninspired than this. Very syrupy-sweet as if they dumped malt extract into the bottle, and it has its share of fermentation defects. There’s essentially nothing discernible hopwise, and the sugars become tiresome after a single gulp. Drain pour.

This is one of the really brown American takes on the style and that’s okay. This one is maybe slightly hazed w/ a thin head of mixed size bubbles. There is a lot of caramel character here but it never quite crosses the line into being way too sweet and it is a bit syrupy and heavy but still pretty drinkable. It finishes pretty clean w/ some lingering sugar on the tongue and just a bit of earthy bitterness. I would not want to drink this all day but one is pleasant enough.
