ON tap @ SL Liquors. Pours a very murky, muddy brown color with a two fingers light brown head that fades to a thin film, leaving spotty lacing.
Very big malt aroma with slight hints of dark fruit, oak, cherry, sweet licorice. Taste is sweet malty dark fruit on the front palate, mouth coating maltiness in the middle, and a sweet clean finish. Hop presence comes through more as it warms. Mouthfeel is fairly thick with medium carbonation.

Bottled. Color is muddy brown with a small White head and minimal lacing. Aroma is skunky, caramely. Interesting. Flavor is very big caramel, malt, nice sweetness to it with a slight bitterness to it in the aftertaste. Medium carbonation. This rare Eastern Shore collaboration is full of flavor. I think it reminds me of Burton Baton. It’s a full flavored Old Ale that’s dry hopped. Hops in the nose lead to a candy coated hop. Draft at railroad. Pours hazy reddish brown with a medium sized tan head. The aroma has citrus rind, plum, raisin, brown sugar. The taste has a bitterness up front followed by some nuttiness, vanilla, toffee, almost bourbon notes.

I didn’t like the first one at all but this huge dry hopping made all the difference in the world. Has a big fruity nose that makes the beer really interesting and a lot more drinkable. Bottle from Capone’s. Pours ruddy muddy dark brown with off-white head. Nose is oaky, teaky, with caramel malt, spice, cobwebby esters. Tastes malty, with aged earthy esters, hops, tannic notes. UPDATED: JAN 7, 2014 Draft at Moriartys in January 2014. Billed under Evolution Craft only. 7.6 ABV. Not certain its Genus 3, but found no listing beyond that. Poured black with just a slight off-white ring. Looks like a clear dark caramel under bright light. Tastes quite a bit like refined dark caramel as well. Only semi-sweet. Dark fruit. Prunes. Thinned molasses. Slight vanilla bourbon. Not much aroma at all. Very unusual. Hard to categorize. Some burnt flavors - but NO wheat, smoke, leather or cigarettes. Tinges of sour, bitter, sweet and spicy - but none of those flavors in any way define it. Though the goal here might be to find a "missing link" between styles, it feels more like a random off-shoot of the tree of beer. Think it might be in its own Genus/Phylum! Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria tap: Pours brown with a tan head. Aroma is toffee, pine hops, dark fruits. Taste is hoppier and bitter than I would have expected; however, the beer was still nice and toasty, with sufficient, but not overwhelming amounts of sweetness and maltiness. Good show. Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a clear brownish red color with a large off white head. Definitely some caramel and dried fruit notes in the nose. The flavor brings a little roasted malt with a slight breadiness as well. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Not bad.
