Pours very dark with nice beige head. Chocolate and malt flavor. Definitely a sipping beer. xs2500 (187) - Mississippi, USA - MAY 22, 2011
Bottle, poured pitch black with a thin mocha head. Flavor is pronounce with mocha, coffee & toasted malts. The best beer I’ve sampled from flying dog. scooter520 (187) - - DEC 23, 2012
Bottle marked VINTAGE11MM. Appearance: dark brown almost black with huge fluffy mocha head. Aroma: dark roasted malts, milk chocolate, some umami/soy sauce but not much. Taste: exactly the same as aroma with mild touches of dark fruits and coffee on the finish. Mouthfeel: creamy, silky and medium thickness with little carbonation. Overall: this is delicious and pushes more the limits of an Imperial Stout more than a porter.

355ml bottle at the Head of Steam, Durham. Dark brown pour with a mocha head. Aromas of dry coffee and dark roasted malts. Flavours of light red berries, and acrid woodsmoke. theviolet (186) - New York, New York, USA - OCT 10, 2007
Some hops, a little bit of smoke in the aroma as well. Pours clear bubbly black. Very small tan head. Very interesting taste. Reminds me of smoked salmon for some reason. It’s got good bitterness, but there is a weird taste throwing me off. peter48er (186) - Liverpool, Merseyside, ENGLAND - JUN 8, 2009
Poured jet black with a small creamy head. I didn’t find the aroma particularly interesting; there seemed to be very little on the nose. The taste however was completely different. I was knocked out particularly, I think, with a strong suggestion of liqourice and some roasted barley & coffee notes. This certainly had the ’wow’ factor for me and has to be one of the best beers I’ve tasted in a long, long time. chilehead (186) - Laguna Niguel, California, USA - FEB 16, 2006
Quite tasty thick and rich porter. Bit of molassas, brown sugar, and smoke on the mouth, with a chocolatey body. Very good.
