Pours almost black with a thick tan head. Aroma is of chocolate, carmel, and hops. Taste is sweet chocolate, carmel and malt with a bitter hops aftertaste. Very smooth porter. Very nice. omegamike (152) - York, North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 22, 2011
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2012 Pours heavy black with a thick mid-brown head. Aroma is sweet, smokey, with a nice suggestion of hops. Taste is treacle, roasted malts, finishing up with a delicious flourish of hops; hints of citrus and pine help lift this very heavy beer and keep it exciting. The enduring bitter, roasted finish is ever so pleasing. On the whole an excellent dark beer with which to finish an evening. ghendrix (151) - Rochester, New York, USA - JUN 5, 2013
From the bottle, pours dark brown with big, long-lasting brown foamy head. Smells terrific, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, smokey even. The hops surprise me every time I have this beer and Iím not sure it needs that much. Itís full of nice flavours but they donít get to linger long enough due to the hops. I get some dark fruit and lots of coffee and chocolate to taste before the bitterness takes over. Itís good, I drink it regularly, but I always think it could be so much better. Perhaps I should try one of the aged versions. JohnnyMummbles (151) - Pitman, New Jersey, USA - JAN 25, 2011
Poured from a 12oz bottle a jet black with a large dark brown head that leaves nice lacing around the glass. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and a bit nutty. Flavor is sweet chocolate leading into a bitter espresso and dark chocolate dry finish. A very good imperial porter. aarossell (151) - Grandville, Michigan, USA - MAY 14, 2007
Very good, though imperial porters are a bit much for me. This one is a fine example, however.
Very dark, tan head, smooth and creamy, roasted malts, chocolate, quite bitter. Extremely thick and filling beer.

Great pour, nice tan head. Alcohol is well hidden. Straight up porter taste, but stronger than others Iíve had (as Imperial should imply). Excellent porter - robust, chocolaty, and tasty. Aarond (150) - Wilmington, North Carolina, USA - JAN 20, 2012
Bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is sweet malt and a bit of caramel. I can detect some alcohol. Taste is sweet malt, dark fruit, caramel, and toast. Very good beer. muffel (150) - Lower Saxony, GERMANY - MAR 28, 2012
On tap (Holyrood 9A in Edinburgh). Black with a thin light brown head. Medium body and carbonation. Aroma is roasted malt and some fruits. Flavor is sweet, hoppy, roasted malt and coffee. Bitter aftertaste. Tastes like a porter should taste (but not really my style). Likeburning (149) - Franklin, Tennessee, USA - JAN 6, 2006
This deep chocolate colored brown headed beer is one not to miss for porter fans. Very thisk and hearty, best enjoyed with good friends during good times. Hints of different coffees and other dark herbs? Heavy and smooth. Especially great for a medium sized brewing company. Codythegreat (149) - Carrollton, Georgia, USA - MAY 24, 2008
Pours a dark Black with a tan head. I had this at Taco Mac after I had already been drinking so I donít remember exactly what it tasted like but I do remember a strong malty flavor and aroma. I drank this out of a glass I canít remember.
