chocolate, coffee, roasty, citrus, alcohol, black, frothy, very bitter, medium sweetness, medium sourness, full body, sticky, lively, Cybercat (6146) - Georgia, USA - JAN 14, 2007
Very tasty! The flavor is strong but not ferocious - definitely one of the best porters I have ever had. It delights the tongue and eases down the throat, leaving smoky and coffee aftertastes with just a hint of bitterness.
Gotta love the artwork on the label, even if that doesn’t affect the flavor. newshound (20) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 14, 2007
Bottles. Found 4-packs in Jacksonville, FL after finding out my current-native Austin, TX would not be getting it (WTF?) AN AMAZING BEER! Bought a case-worth, but couldn’t take it by plane. 2 years later, I drove three states to pick it up. A beer worth the wait! Now holding last 2 4-packs for the perfect occasion. Hunter S. Thompson would have loved some of this brew on a cold snowy night out at the ranch.
Pours a think oily black with hints of crimson and brown. Very strong alcohol content is obvious and appreciated. Has bite from carbonation and hops. Starts cold with a chocalate/smoke/fruit taste... blossoms as it warm to a sweet meatier taste. The aroma is seductive, haunts me all day long.
Serve with roasted pork marinated in red wine, cherries and garlic. bbp182 (255) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 26, 2007

Flying Dog Imperial Porter is now the official brew in my home. Great depth and breadth. Dark chocolate. Full bodied. Great kick. A delight. davidm (2081) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - MAR 13, 2010
Bottle 330ml. Masterpiece, full marks! Aromas of dark fruit, burnt caramel, chocolate, coffee, and alcohol. Taste is sweet, with nice bitter notes, and very long length. Palate is syrupy, and full bodied. Dark brown, almost black, with a frothy off-white head. RummyRedbeard (8) - Allston, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 3, 2011 does not count
Undeniably my favorite beer since the first time I tried it. (The first time I had it) a friend of mine and I got a four pack, unfortunately a bottle spilled and what spewed out of it looked like blood to us! A rich, dark porter with a steady ABV. The taste is exactly how you’d imagine or desire an imperial porter to be. 10/10 in my book. GMurani (11) - - DEC 14, 2012
12 oz bottle. I don't score a perfect beer often but this is possibly the best beer I've tasted. The beer pours a solid black with excellent head and retention. Everything about the aroma and taste is beautiful. The high alcohol content is hidden completely in a perfect mix of bitterness, sweetness and flavor. A mist try for any lover of Flying Dog, porters, or craft beer in general.
