COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 9.2% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you dont show it the proper respect. IBUs: 85

Shared with Pyrozoid. Pitch black poor with a frothy brown head. Aromas of cedar, chocolate, molasses, roastes hazlenuts, sea salt, dates. Salty, creamy, lactose with a good bitter profile and ok sweetness. Heavy body with slight carbonation. Added flavors of toffee, coffee and a hint of mint. Complexe aromas and flavors... yet for some reason it was lacking a little je ne sais quoi in regards to mouthfeel.

(12 oz btl) Pours a milky black w/ a thick, tan head which diminishes somewhat, but leaves a nice lace behind. Earthy hops combine w/ the rich malt creating an aroma of black strap molasses. Bittersweet chocolate-covered espresso beans is the best way to describe the taste. Theres a hint of dark fruit in there as well. Finishes smoky w/ a nice hop bite.

Black por with a slight tan head. not a very big aroma. Roated malts and that aabout it........the usual cofffee and roasted malt flavors. This is scary drinkable. I likes all though I am a tad disappointed.

Bottled. Dark, Blackish. Light brown thinning head, thick at first. Unexpected smells of flower. lighter caramel notes--sweet. Very dry taste also of caramel burned malts with hops. Very tight/quick finish with big bite at end.

Opaque black body. Head is very fizzy and not all that appealing looking. Aroma is sweet, licorice, toffee, roasted malt. The flavor is roasted malt, balanced sweetness (not as sweet as I expected from the aroma) and bitterness. Full mouthfeel, quote pleasant on this the eve of a historic snowstorm!

Good beer, but not great to me. Hop seems overdone. Poured aggresively but only got a smallish burnt sugar colored head that quickly subsided and no lace. Color is an opaque black brown. Aroma is roasty, dark ripe fruit, coffee, malty, and more bitter than sweet. Body and carbonation are good. Finish is like flavor and fairly long. Has a fairly subtle but present alcohol characteristic. Not a session.

12oz bottle from Brewery Creek in Vancouver. Pours almost black with a decent sized tan colored head. Aroma is sweet roasted malts, coffee, chocolate. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, dried fruit, slight hops. Palate is medium bodied, medium carbonation, bitter-sweet finish. I was underwhelmed considering the high ratings average...but it just didnt do it for me.
