COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 9.2% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you dont show it the proper respect. IBUs: 85

quite interesting. nose is very fruity, and definetly has a roasted malt smell to it. flavour is more of the same. nice bitterness in the finish, reminds me alot of HOTD Adam. nice beer, but not what i was expecting from a porter.

12 oz from Ty5592. Thanks for the extra Ty. A big and boozy porter, that pours like motor oil and smells of fruit. Large tan lacing head, black color, smells of dark cherrys, roasted malt...Prett damn good, but dont plan on drinking more than one with any ease.

Barleywineish nose with deep brownish black pour. Head settles to low film of carbonation directly. Quick body with longer lasting dry crisp finish. Lots of roasted coffee thoughout. 9.5% a bit watery around the edges. Some hints of tar and lighter fluid burning. (maybe some of Hunters home made pyrotechnics) It is unbalanced yet somehow works.....Like its inspiration.

Found bottles in San Diego. Foam head. Thin ring after a few minutes. Heavy chocolate coffee liqueur aroma. Dark bitter flavour. Rich and deep. Nice. Enjoyable but I did not get anything stellar. Licorice finish.

Bottle, deep brown/black pour with a thin head, strong coffee flavor, a bit thin perhaps for the style but the flavor is excellent and the alcohol is well hidden

Pours a dark, black color with a small, tan head. Big chocolate aroma, with some cloves for good measure. Medium body, some bittersweet chocolates, malty, nutty, a touch of coffee. Bitter finish. A great offering from Flying Dog.

Bottle. Poured dark with slight head. Medium body. Hints of malts, chocolate, coffee. Finished very bitter. Alcohol was hardly noticeable considering its 9.5%

BlackForestCO (978) - Aurora, Colorado, USA - JAN 12, 2008
UPDATED: APR 20, 2008 Poured from a bottle. Poured a deep brown/black color with a thin tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate and some hops. Flavor is nice and complex. Chocolaty malt leads into an inviting leathery-steak taste, and ends with bitter hops and coffee. Super smooth, but it still has a bite that keeps you coming back. Nice beer for sure.

This beer was tasty but thin on body. I expected a bit more maltiness. It was a light for a stout but in a good way. The head ws very thin which indicates a small amount of carbonation. With all the boldness in beers of the day this one was a runner up but yet very drinkable and smooth.
