COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2014 355ml bottle poured into a chalice.
Very fair Barley Wine. And I have to admit: I love Barley Wine beers! They are so "intense" beers, in many aspects.
A: Beautiful art work (Flying Dog beers are special in these regards). Beautiful cloudy amber color with a very thin head
S: Pure pleasure. Sweet. malty and fruits (grapes mainly). Perfume hops. Alcohol in the end (10.5% ABV is usually impossible to be imperceptive)
T: Caramel malt (fresh malts!). Hoppy as a good American Barley Wine should be. Molasses with some cask notes in the end
M: Liquorous medium to heavy body. Medium to low carbonation. Bitter start with good bitterness retention
D: The first time I’ve had this beer, it was in the Delirium Café (in Belgium) and I’ve underestimated it’s drinkability. As a matter of fact, today, in the comfort of home, I feel like I could easily drink more 2 bottles before falling down... :)

Colour: coffee-like brown with a thin beige head.
Nose: loads of fruits (plums, apricot). Notes of roasted malts, raisins and oak. Wheat toast and yeast.
Flavours: slightly smoky, forest fruits return. Vanilla, licorice, chocolade, candy sugar. Hints of alcoholic content.
Finish: long and lingering. More alcoholic, but nicely balanced.
Verdict: very nice barley wine. Really balanced.

Melker (267) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 10, 2014
Bottle @ Ölrepubliken. Served in a tumbler. Big aroma of dark fruits like plum and raisins. Citrus is in there along with caramel and wood. The sweetness is huge you can almost smell it. Bitter. A bit too fruity but still a great beer.

Pours clear reddish copper with low off-white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, grapefruit, raisins, corinthians. Taste is sweet, slightly boozy, raisins, dates and figs, lightly bitter boozy finish. Medium to rich body with soft carbonation.

Bottle. Nose is malt, yeast, caramel, burnt toffee. A little underwhelming. Taste brown sugar, licorice, slight herbs, leading to liquor, dark fruits, dates, spice and slight hoppyness in the finish. Mouthfeel is good.

An excellent new world Barley Wine.

Yorker (2082) - Holstebro, DENMARK - SEP 2, 2014
35 cl bottle @ home. Pours reddish amber with some sediment and an off-white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are dried fruit, caramel, alcohol, and hops - with an alcoholic finish.

veceo (1361) - Pula, CROATIA, - AUG 28, 2014
Cloudy reddish brown color, thin tan head. Full body, soft carbonation. Aroma of raspberry, strawberry, malts, overripe fruits, raisins. Alcohol is nicely hidden, but it leaves a nice warming feeling. Thick texture, very powerful stuff. Not overy sweet. Very nice.
