COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

split a bottle between two little EKU glasses. another one of theose big ole fluffy pillowtop head deals. dark cloudy sienna color, pecan pie sluiced with jack daniels aroma. hubbie took a sip and said "harsh". i took a sip and said "alcohol". i think this may be the first barley wine i've tried, and could very well be the last.

12 oz bottle at Pop the Cap fundraiser. Im not a huge fan of barleywines, but this is probably my favorite of the ones Ive had. It isnt so overwhelmingly sweet or malty. Looking forward to more once NC gets past its antiquainted beer laws.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a small off white head. Aroma of sweet fruit, molasses and malt. Tastes of wood and rasin/citrus. The alcohol is warming, great beer for this raining day.

Well-executed BW. Flying Dog has disappointed me in the past but this is great. Man, big fragrance, lots of malt, if you kill it youre missing out.

Pours a dark mohagany and smells of malts and licorice. This is a pleasant barley wine on both the nose and mouth. Alcohol is nicely balanced by sweet malt flavors. nice.

Very nice barley wine with excellent for the style body and smell of grapes and bread. Tastes of grapes and malt. No head at all. Only minus that after some time the alcohol makes a strong appearance.

A dark amber coloured beer with a thin, off-white head, that mostly disappeared. The aroma is fruity, dark dried fuity, malty - like bread, with hint of cascade hops citrus aromas and dark sugar. The taste is very sweet. The texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Slightly malty, more hoppy aroma. Dark brown color. Spritzy carbonation, thin tan head. Toffeeish flavor. Malty profile. Root beer like finish. A bit spicy for me, more like a Christmas type beer than a barleywine. If this would be labeled a Christmas beer I think Id like it more. I just had Bells Batch 6000 before this beer, and this pales by comparison.

This is part of a beer club. Had only one bottle but was decent for the price. Poured great and had a nice finish. Would do again.

This beer was ok for a barley wine which, as Ive stated before, Im not a fan of. The aroma is awful Sickening sweet aroma that turns my stomach. Nice dark amber color. The flavor is ok with dark fruit taste. I wouldnt drink it again.
