COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

Labeled 2006B. Aroma of malt and chocolate - I think there really was a light wiff of licorice when the cap came off. No head. Brownish color. Starts dried plum and raisin. Itís malty sweetish, and has a firm mouthfeel. Hop is very light. The alcohol warms the palate, and the throat, and below. As it warms, there does seem to be pear, probably not apple. The mouth sensations do seem to turn a bit unpleasant, if one quits sipping. Sort of like heated banana. This is pretty complex.

Bottle poured a clear mahogany wiyh a small, but lasting amber head. Aromas of dark fruit [plums, raisins], toffee, and a hint of vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of dark fruit, molasses, and a hint of cocoa with a smooth lingering finish.

Bottle, bbf 2014 thanks to Dirty D. It pours deep red - brown with a medium beige head. The aroma is rich, very sweet, brown bread, sticky dried fruits, fruit cake, booze, brandy, toffee and brown sugar. The taste is slick, sweet, sticky, toffee, brown bread, fruit cake, spicy, booze, brandy, christmas cake, toasty brown sugar, and wood with a dry, earthy finish. Full body, fine carbonation and sticky mouth - feel. Sweet, yes, but actually not too bad. Decent for style.

Bottled, 355ml aged 3yrs from S.H.Jones in Banbury, Oxon (when it was still open). Ruby to brown with off white head. If this were a wine I would class it as a dessert wine as it is sugary sweet more Muscato than Bordeaux. The sweetness lingers along with an apricot, alcohol note, warming, reasonably smooth. Unlike a wine I didnít spit as it is worth persevering with giving a glow on a chilly March evening. Went well with fried eggs, tomatoís and potato if you are inclined.Reasonable.

Bottle. Poured hazy brown color with an average off-white frothy head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Moderate spicy malty and alcohol aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium sweet spicy flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. I would recommend this to a freind.
