Bottle via SL.. Poured aggresive into a pint glass. Big rocky head that stuck around. Nose is bready and orange peels. Taste is like orange juice.. Very fruity orange. Not bitter but has a really nice hop character. Light bready maltiness to help balance it out. Body is light, very pale ale like... not like a DIPA... Very drinkable for a ten percenter... no trace of alcohol. Overall: Very enjoyable DavoleBomb (1867) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 13, 2012
Poured into a snifter.
4.0 A: Clear medium orange color. Two fingers of creamy off-white head. Retention is decent for a beer this big and a good bit of lacing is left.
4.0 S: Hmmm. Interesting. I was expecting a ton of cat piss, but there’s nearly none of that in here. I was actually kind of looking forward to it. Instead, I get a great smelling, animal-free nose. Pineapple with peach and apple fruitiness. Floral secondary. Clean with a light neutral maltiness.
4.0 T: Taste is as good as the nose. Strong pineapple with a light medley of other citrus fruits. Peach and apple again. A little bit of earthiness and spiciness and the faintest cat piss. Again, the malts are clean and offer a neutral sweetness.
4.0 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Reasonably creamy and quite smooth.
4.0 D: This blew all of my expectations about what chinook can do. It’s a really nice hop that I might use more of in the future.

Pours an orange color with a slightly off white head. Small head. Smells a bit creamy with some hops. Nice smooth finish. Creamy with a dry finish. Some pine needles. I like it. sloth (2905) - Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA - JUL 30, 2012
Medium sized off white head with fair retention and decent lacing.Clear, gold colored brew. Nose of light fruit, citrus and a bit of alcohol. Body is med/full with a soft carbonation, a bit acidic, lightly resiny.Piney and citrusy hop flavors in kahoots with a medium sweet maltyness. They almost balance out! I think a bit bigger bittering charge is in order here. But thats just my opinion. Not to shabby. Bottle from statelineliquors. dbarnold (1127) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - JUL 20, 2012
Very nice, strong example of how to make a big beer without being heavy. Pours gold with white head and significant lacing. Smell is piney and bitter. Palate is exactly the same (duh, same hops) and very refreshing. Leaves your tongue buckled, exactly what I want from an IPA.

Nice showcase of the Chinook from bitterness to aroma. Not too bitter that the malt is obscured hence the imperial. Very dangerous beer at 10%. pras (602) - Maryland, USA - JUL 11, 2012
It helps to try a beer hours after it was kegged. This might be my favorite of the single hop IPA series to date. Aroma was huge of citrus and nice head. Flavor was huge also, in balance with the malt. Flavors of citrus most notably grapefruit. Finished with a nice bitterness. Alcohol was nicely hidden by the malt. Nice beer.
