Bulk_Carrier (6064) - Vermont, USA - MAY 12, 2017Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a slightly hazy burnt copper almost amber color with a finger’s worth of semi-white to off white foamy head. Light lingering lace.
The aroma had a sturdy caramel/toffee maltiness not exactly melding with the grapefruit pulp and orange peel that came out separately. Light pine and a little bit of hop spice, slightly earthy rounded out the edges.
The flavor tried to blend those malts to the hops, but instead of being "bittersweet" this was "bitter" at times and "sweet" at other times. Aftertaste leaned towards the malty side with some hop spice tickling it every now and again, still, it doesn’t mesh well together. Finish was malty.
The palate was about medium bodied, perhaps sitting just a touch over. Light carbonation. ABV did feel as projected by the brewer.
Overall, for a DIPA in this day and age, once again, I’m saddened that Flying Dog has come to where they are. Come on, down there in Maryland! I’m rooting for you from Vermont!
Svesse (9313) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - MAR 26, 2017(Bottle) Amber colour, slightly hazy, with frothy off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of citrus peel, mandarin, pink grapefruit, apricots, caramel, resin, orange marmalade and tropical fruit. Malty, fruity taste with apricots, caramel, mandarin, grapefruit, resin, lemon peel and a bitter finish with lots of resiny, citric hops and a touch of alcohol. More than medium body, with a slight sweetness. Powerful and quite bitter, with a generous hop character and a touch of warming alcohol. Very nice.
oh6gdx (26487) - Vasa, FINLAND - MAY 17, 2016Bottled. Hazy orangeish golden colour with a small off-whitehead. Aroma is floral, fruity, resiny and some slight spicy notes as well. Flavour is thick tropical fruity, resiny and some floral notes with some slight spiced notes and nice sweet maltiness to it. Hides the alcohol really well.
YorkshireG73 (55) - West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 3, 2015Keg @ Grove Udderfield. Aroma of rubber / catwee and a ghostly ladies perfume rises through the ether, Lemony fizzy sherbets ABV well hidden and deceptive.. Great lacing and body for keg. Hoppy balance with the Citra coming through perfectly, tickling the tongue on finish. If I met a woman who tickled my tongue and made my legs go wobbly as much as this I’d marry her.

teorn88 (7687) - Rimini, ITALY - NOV 19, 2014Keg at Mother Kelly’s London. It pours a hazy orange color with a large white head. Aroma is hoppy, grassy, with notes of peaches, resin, grapefruit peel, hay. Taste is medium sweet and well hopped, with notes of pine cones, resin, grapefruit juice, light damp, mango and hay. Finishes dry, alcoholic and bitter. Overall, quite good
Strykzone (7947) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - NOV 1, 2014Sampled at esbls. Kind of orange in color. Citrus and malty aroma. The citra hops shine here with citrus and tropical varieties. Richer malts that do a nice job of staying in the back just enough.

evergreen0199 (3709) - Northwood, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 25, 2014Keg at Mother Kelly’s, Bethnal Green, London. A hazy golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Sweet, malty, tropical fruit aroma. Tastes similar, sweet, malty, tropical fruit, slightly musty. Not such a fresh half pint but still very tasty.
Beese (3543) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 22, 2014Draught at Mother Kelly’s, Bethnal Green on 17 Oct. Poured a hazy, light amber, with a thin white head. Aroma of butterscotch, somewhat dulled Citra hop and tinned fruit. Mango sweetness in the flavour, with some grain and grassy hop. Finish was increasing hop resin bitterness, golden syrup and bready malt. Good, but probably would have been excellent, if fresh.
