3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Smelled great - sweet citrus. A thick, golden appearance -- but simplistic and overly sweet taste. Not a big fan, but it is decent.
Probably one of the most aggressive IPAs i’ve had. Pours an orange amber with a strong piny and citrus aroma. Extremely hoppy and bitter finish with no detection of malt. Definitely a sipper at 10% ABV. BeerdedDave (1703) - Beckley, USA - OCT 13, 2014
light amber color; surprisingly very little aroma (the label says "overwhelming citrusy aroma" - I found it to be quite underwhelming; a bitter and hoppy beer; grassy, citrusy, herbal hops and a bready malt background Darkmagus82 (2302) - - SEP 1, 2014

Poured from bottle into a snifter
Appearance – Pours a beautiful crystal clear golden-orange color with a one finger white head. The head fades rather fast to leave a light level of lace on the glass.
Smell – The aroma is massive of citrus notes with a big sweet tangerine and bitter grapefruit and lemon smell. Mixed with these aromas are rather strong aromas of other tropical fruits with mango, pineapple and some papaya. There is the slightest grassy hop aroma that rounds out the sweet and hoppy citrus making for a very delicious smell.
Taste – The taste starts out with a thick bready flavor mixed with a decent grapefruit hop bitterness. There are stronger notes of tangerine sweetness and a small amount of tropical fruit upfront that slowly diminishes throughout the taste as it advances to the end. The middle of the taste brings with it a tiny grassy hop taste, some lemon, as well as a slight taste of alcohol. As the taste advances to the end the alcohol gets stronger, and with the sweet dwindling, the grapefruit hop actually getting stronger a dry and bitter citrus flavor is left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was on the thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that is just below average to average. The thicker body is quite good for putting the citrus hop and tangerine flavors on the forefront. The body with the lower carbonation coupled with the alcohol boozy taste make this one a good sipper.
Overall – A rather tasty imperial IPA with a great dose of citrus and a wonderful smell and feel. A nice one to sit back and sip.

Bottle... Pours lightly hazed and dirty-orange with a small, creamy, off-white head. Excellent retention. The nose is dominated by honey malt, orange blossoms and floral hops. Also, there’s an interesting marshmallow component here. Full-bodied with a super-creamy mouthfeel and modest carbonation. The flavor is appropriately bitter, stemming from both the hops and the alcohol. Although a solid malt bill is incorporated and there must be quite a bit of residual sugar here, the heavy lupulin bitterness does not fade even when the beer hits room temperature… in south Florida… in late June. Coarse, bitter finish. Bottle courtesy of ygtbsm94! b3shine (8870) - Indiana, USA - MAY 23, 2014
Bottle to snifter (shared by jmborggren). Looks good; a fairly transparent burnt orange with off-white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells of bitter hops and pale malt. Tastes like it smells with a full-bodied mouthfeel. Sweeter than I’d prefer.

Pours orangey gold, medium off white head. Aroma is boozy, grassy hop, citrus, caramel malt. medium mouthfeel, citrus throughout, quite bitter... Definite strong malt and booze. Finishes pretty dry. jdb288 (584) - Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA - APR 14, 2014
Draft. Pours yellow gold with decent white head. Aroma is grapefruit, some unidentifiable citrus, fresh grass. On the first taste, I get some cat pee dankness. Elements of tangerine and grapefruit come through. Gets better as it warms. Not bad at all. GSH1976 (307) - Delaware, USA - MAR 13, 2014
Pours a clear gold with a touch of amber and plenty of head. Aroma is very difficult to describe. I do not detect strong citrus or tropical notes which has been mentioned by others. If I had to describe it resin would be my best guess with a hint of spice, some malt and alcohol. Citrus is noticeable in the taste and there is a strong bitterness that lingers. Medium bodied with a dry finish. I am a big fan of these single hop beers from Flying Dog but this is my least favorite out of the five or so I have had.
