Nice cloudy amber/gold. Smallish head. Very aromatic in the glass, bananas and spice, maybe green apple. Very mild hop aroma, Hallertau/Hersbruck predominant. As is typical w/ FD’s brews, the aroma is more promising than the beer itself. Wheaty, yeasty, mild banana clove flavor, I was expecting more from this (and other FD beers) based on the nose. If they ever get the beers to live to live up to the promise of the aroma, they will be great! All in all, a decent middle of the road American Hefe. Interesting label as usual!! 12 oz bottle. For some reason I didn’t expect much from this beer but it was pretty good. It had the nice clove and banana aroma and flavor that a good Hefe will have. Nice and crisp and refreshing. I’ll have it again. papajohn (1250) - San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA - AUG 9, 2004
Hazy peach color with a small white head. Aroma is yeasty and grape skins. Fllavor is wheaty, citric, spicy and finishes dry with a hint of clove. Light on the palate, but crisp and refreshing. SDbruboy (1864) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 3, 2004
Bottle. Pours hazy golden color with a large white head that dissipates leisurely. Aroma is wheaty, malty, yeast, hints of banana and spice. Flavor is sweet and fruity, litttle cereal and nice hop finish. Medium body and gentle carbonation. Not bad American version of this German classic. Wheat aroma. Yellow color with a white head. Strong wheat flavor. Mild on the palate.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2011 Given the brewer this was a decent beer but that is faint praise.+++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle the beer poured a hazy yellow-gold color with a small white head. The aroma was strong with citrus and had a mild malty wheat undertone and some spice. Very nice aroma - one of the better smelling wheat beers I have seen. The flavor was strong citrus on the front and dry wheat on the middle and aftertaste. There was a slight sour tang on the finish. Overall a decent wheat, but I do wish that the flavor had lived up to the anticipation that the aroma inspired. LiamPatrick16 (124) - Montgomery, New York, USA - JUL 10, 2004
the bottle was the best part. the opaque yellow body and large head were impressive but the taste was not. you can definatly taste the wheat in it but not much else. AceOfHearts (1374) - Mountain View, California, USA - JUL 5, 2004
Bottle. I rather liked this more than the beer's 2.8 rating would imply. Not complex, but a drinkable hefe nonetheless. Unexpectedly dry, pronounced wheaty tones. Dry and slightly yeasty finish. Shadrach (176) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - JUL 3, 2004
On tap at David Copperfield’s. Poured an opaque golden wheat color with a lemony wheat aroma. Taste was also lemony and wheat with a bit of orange and some citrus bite to it. duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUL 1, 2004
Lightly tangy, lightly clovey, pretty light all in all. Nothing palate, lightly lemony, but very thin and unexciting.
