Brewed in the centuries old tradition of German beers, our brewers use more wheat and proprietary yeast to give it the unmistakable character of a flavorful, authentic Hefeweizen. The High proportion of wheat gives In Heat its smooth, full-mouth feel and our special yeast gives it its unique fruity and spicy aroma.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured a bit hazy, orange in color, small white head. Aroma of yeast, bread and bananas. Taste is also bananas, wheat and some bitter and sour notes. OK beer, but that pretty much it.

Flying Dog is really impressing me here lately, and the In Heat Wheat is no exception. So I’m not sure why its not getting the love around here.

Anaranjada, ligeramente turbia. Dos dedos de espuma, poca para una hefe. Aroma herbal ligeramente agrio. Sabor claramente dulzón, con algo de fruta, naranja. Bastante carbonatada. No llega, ni se acerca a las buenas alemanas del estilo.

Bottle. Opaque golden color, white head. Slightly yeasty aroma, toasty and fruity notes. Sweet malty flavor with bready notes. Medium-light body, medium-high carbonation. Pretty standard fare.

Bottle. Nose is banana, clove, quite largerish, bland and unappealing. Taste is very spicy and peppery leading to emerging banana and cream with more cloves and spice to finish. Mouthfeel is what you would expect. The spice in the beer is nice, the rest of it is not. My search for decent hefe continues.

330ml bottle (Alus Celle, Riga). Slightly hazy light brown color. Medium size, white head, stays. Papery, straw, dead yeast in aroma. Smells kind of old. Slight sourness, raisins, straw, dead yeast in taste. Medium carbonation. Caramel mixed with dead yeast in aftertaste.

12 oz. bottle at Fries Cafe. Pours a hazy goldish orange with a small off-white head that doesn’t amount to much before settling into a small ring. Tons of banana in this, with plenty of wheat, as well as some tangerine, clove, and very light sweet bread and spice. Light-medium bodied, with modest carbonation and a wheaty, fruity mouthfeel. Not the greatest balance but not bad.
