Rake. Keg. Yet another pretty scarce Flying Dog brew at the Rake. Thanks again fo Rich Dinwoodie and Mike Hill for securing this stuff for us rabid UK drinkers! It’s a clear gold beer with no real head which is something of a surprise as the beer certainly has adequate crispy carbontation. Light thin malt cream. Fresh crispy apple. Whisper of citric hops. Crisp dry finish. A definite cider vibe here but with enough malt and hops to remimd that this is a beer! Tasty!
Draft, Snallygaster. Hazy amber body with medium off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, apple, some spicy, light bread. Taste is moderately sweet, apple, some hay, spicy. Light-medium body, some effervescence. Drake (14059) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 24, 2013
Draft at Beer Run. Pours a clear pale amber color with a large foamy white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of caramel malts, apples, stone fruit. The taste is apples, tart lemon, caramel malts. Bright, medium bodied, average carbonation. 50th Flying Dog rating! DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 22, 2014
~1oz sample on tap at Lock 27. Clear golden, slightly orange color. Thin off-white head. ABV labeled 8$. Pints go for $5.50. Musty apple aroma in the nose, light spice. Nice light funk to it... Moderate sweet taste, lightly spicy, light bitter. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation, and more dry finish. Surprisingly decent apple ale. Hides bigger ABV well, and has a nice bigger flavor that isn’t too cloying sweet or slick.. Nice dryness. Good stronger apple ale.

Draft to taster. Looks solid; a transparent apple juice blonde with white head. Smells solid too; yeasty with notes of apples and light spices. Tastes like it smells, only less robust and balanced. Average on the palate. Alright, but smells better than it tastes. nimbleprop (8708) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - NOV 17, 2013
On tap at the Bier Baron, DC. Pours a clear gold with some thin white head. Nose smells like... apples. Surprised? Some sweetness, a little candy, a hint of lemon. Tastes like... apples. Some lemon, a little yeast, some candy sugar. Sweet finish. Very one note. jredmond (8508) - New York, New York, USA - NOV 1, 2013
Draft at Pony Bar HK with Andrew, Ellen and Redi. Pours a pale amber body with thin white lacing. Aroma is spice, vague fruits and some grain. Mouthfeel falls somehwere between dry, carbonated cider and spritzer. Flavors include again grain and vague fruits - not sure if I’d even be able to pick out the apple flavor not knowing it was used. Backlog rating. Keg at the Rake, London. It pours a pale straw color with a small white head. Aroma is cider-like with apples, grains and citrus. Taste is mildly bitter and medium sweet, with notes of grains, stewed apples, green apples and hay. Finishes lightly acidic and dry. Light bodied with good carbonation. Overall, quite nice\
