Flying Dog Brewery will celebrate its 20th Anniversary a few months early on Friday, September 25th (the brewery turns 20 next year). The brewery will be sampling the new Raging Bitch Belgian-style India Pale Ale at the Flying dog Brats And Gonzo party in Denver that day as part of the Great American Beer Fest happening that week (unscramble the FBAG acronym to get GABF). More info about the fest can be found on the official Flying Dog blog. The beer also appeared on draft at this past weekend’s Gonzofest party. Al from Hop Talk was in attendance and reported on his blog, “I understand it’s made from an augmented Snake Dog wort with an exclusive Belgian yeast strain (called Diablo) and dry-hopped with a load of Amarillo hops. They’re calling it a Belgian IPA. It was really good. It had that hop bite from a big, bad American IPA with the banana and bubblegum from the Belgian yeast.” Some may remember a beer called, Raging Bitch Birch Beer, that Flying Dog introduced on April 1st. Whereas that low-gravity series beer was a joke, this beer is anything but at 8% ABV (60 IBU). Propaganda from the label: “Two inflammatory words…one wild drink. Nectar imprisoned in a bottle. Let it out. It is cruel to keep a wild animal locked up. Uncap it. Release it…stand back! Wallow in its golden glow in a glass beneath a white foaming head. Remember, enjoying a RAGING BITCH, unleashed, untamed, unbridled – and in heat – is pure GONZO!! It has taken 20 years to get from there to here. Enjoy!” – Ralph Steadman

Another foul-mouthed beer name from Flying Dog. Poured from bottle to standard pint: Pours a nice looking burnt gold with a finger of dense, creamy head. Pretty good lacing and a very active body. Definitely some spicy yeast right off the bat. Citric hops and mild malt backbone. A bit dull, but nicely balanced. I’m digging this one. The spicy yeast character goes great with the highly bitter hop profile. Very heavy stuff, in a good way. Feel is good but the finish is exceedingly bitter - like straight up orange peel bitter going on up in here. It doesn’t detract from the beer but it also doesn’t have me thirsty for another one. Overall, a unique beer. Give it a go.

Very floral and lots of hops, but that is to be expected from an ipa. The taste reminds me of perfumes, the smell of autumn flowers. Perfect to accompany a simple steak meal or to go with some strong cheeses. Amber colored, with a nice white head. Soft prickly co2 on the tongue

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2017 Bière cuivrée avec une mousse un peu écrue, un nez un peu fruité avec un fond de litchi. Pas trop de pétillance mais un fond de bouche très doux, un peu de litchi très sirupeux. Bonne biere

Bottle. Pours almost clear amber with a lasting off-white head leaving good lacing. Aroma of hop, caramel, sweet malt, fruit, biscuit and floral notes. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body, slight stickiness to texture, soft to average carbonation. Very good.

From bottle pours a clear copper colour with small off white head. Aroma is complex revealing notes of toffee, banana, marmalade/orange, bubblegum, oak, doughy yeast and a touch of citrus. Taste is medium to strong sweet and a touch boozey but very nicely balanced with a clean dry bitterness with a decent lasting finish. Nice amount of carbonation with a slightly chewy texture. A very nice IPA

Light brown / amber of colour. Very nice brownish head. Stays up long and has nice lacing in the glass. The taste is not so bitter as I would expect from an IPA. There is quite some smell/taste of sweet fruits as banana. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2017 355ml bottle. Pours brown. Banana, bubblegum, peach, apricot, orange peel, caramel. Big hop character, but with a surprisingly big yeast profile too. Very nice.

A nice Belgian spice and bite to this, too sweet at the end, otherwise excellent.

Kran w Pigal w Bielsku Białej. Wygląd - barwa bursztynowa, klarowne, z białą utrzymującą się pianą. Aromat - karmel, karmel, słody, lekki lakier, krówki. Smak - fenole, estry, czerwone owoce, toffi. Nasycenie średnie. Alko schowane, choć trochę w gardle czuć. Goryczka zaznaczona, trochę zalega.
