Road Dog was the first label Ralph Steadman designed which later inspired Hunter S. Thompson’s "Road Dog" essay. We then spent four years fighting for the right to display their now famous quote "Good Beer No Shit." To make a long story short, we won. Let us hoist a pint to free speech, NO CENSORSHIP, the genius of Ralph Steadman, and the Gonzo Spirit of Hunter S. Thompson!

(Bottle 355 ml) Dark brown/mahagoni color with ruby flashes, brown, small, fast falling head. Medium body, creamy texture, moderate carbonation. Aroma: Malty, medium sweet, delicate roastiness, caramel, red fruits, a hinch of chocolate. Taste: Smooth, malty, caramel, low roastiness, light hoppy, short finish, a bit roasty.

Pour is dark brown with an averaged sized tan head. Aroma is faint - roasted malts, molasses, coffee. Flavor and body are thin and much like the aroma.

Gentle metal and aged malt on the nose; this isn’t as fresh as would be ideal. Looks great though; a rich, consistent, coffee brown color and an appreciably thick cream head. Despite a dilapidated aroma, the flavor is great, albeit definitively mellow. A porter, cut and dry.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a shaker. Pours translucent dark brown with medium brown highlights with small beige head. A little lacing, thin body, medium/low carbonation, and light chocolate aroma. Taste is light dark malt and light vegetable hops. A little thin, but pretty easy to drink.

35,5 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 28.08.2009
Aroma is somewhat roasted with toffee and licorice. Flavour has roasted notes, some toffee, licorice and hints of coffee. Quite thin palate. Does not work, just too straightforward and thin.

That ’NO CENSORSHIP’ makes me smile as the Gonzo porter was blocked from Alko due to the cigarette in the label.

Reddish brown colour with medium off white head. Aroma, wood, chocolate, coffee, nuts. Full oily body, medium carbonation. Taste is very watery, with nuts, chocolate and coffee. Not bad, but also not that good.

dutchtuga (146) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JAN 22, 2013
Not one of the best of Flying Dog Brewery. The beer is lame and misses a specific taste.
