Poured into a pint glass. Despite an aggressive pour, almost no head; dark brown body.
Smells of roasted malt, honey and a touch of burnt coffee.
Burnt malt taste upfront that holds on until the end. A sweeter, roaster malt tone comes in, ends with a solid bitterness.
Crisp and medium body with moderate carbonation.
Descent to average porter.

Murky chestnut brown with a decent beige covering.
Nose is soy sauce, bloody Mary, umame, dark fruit, touch of oxidisation.
Taste comprises fruit loaf, light spice, earthy, toffee, malt, sweet.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.

Foam is present at the porter, but impressive is certainly not. The aroma is something special for type. Little malt and many floral notes. The taste nor as a conventional reports, rather something going towards a good dark sporter. Bottle shared at Leighton’s place. Many thanks to Paul for this relic. Reddy caramel brown coloured pour with a fine cream coloured head. Aroma is fairly nice Salted caramel, toffee, soy, caramel, nutty. Flavour is composed of caramel, light toffee, Salted caramel, Good for the age. Bottle share at Leighton’s. Thanks to Paul for sharing this BB Feb 1998 porter, 5.8%. Dark brown, big foamy tan head. Aroma is sherry, tomato paste, perfume. Body is light, slightly foamy, low carbonation. Taste is marmite, tangy fruits, sherry. Yep, pretty oxidised as expected. Definitely fun to try, and actually pretty drinkable though I doubt I would have finished the bottle by myself.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Paul. Best before Feb 1998! Pours clear russet-brown with a big, foamy khaki head. A bit of oxidation apparent in the nose, cherry, brown bread. Medium sweet flavor with dried berries, raisins, bread, some brown sugar, dates. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sugary finish, more dried, old berries, toasted sugars, bread. Bottle BBF Feb 1998!!! It pours dark brown with a decent off-white head. The nose is rich, earthy, marmite, oxidised action, fruit cake, wood, toasty, brown sugar and must. The taste is pretty sweet upfront, caramelised sugars, aged malts, fruit cake, candy, marmite, damp wood and cola with a short, sweetish finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Marron oscura rojiza, casi opaca. Abundante espuma cremosa y duradera. Aroma plano, nada destaca. Excelente textura, muy cremosa, y agradable sabor con toques de caramelo, algo de fruta roja y un final ahumado muy seco y amargo. Muy buena.
