3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 8, 2013 Bomber poured into Trappist glass. Cloudy orangy-brown color with a finger of creamy tan head. Aroma is fruity (dried fruits, raisins, grape, plums, berries) and caramel. Taste is bready malt, yeasty with all the aroma flavors mixing together nicely. Medium palate, clean finish, somewhat sticky. Good stuff, keep at it FD.
Bottle picked up from Wine Rack at Yarnton Nurseries, Yarnton, Oxon consumed at Moira Furnace Folk Festival, Moira, Leics/Derby’ border. Saturday 19th August 2017 Pours dark brown with a mid sized off white head, sweet but with a good kick, a little spice, this doesn’t taste anything like as strong as it is. Dark sticky fruits are present and whilst it does not blow me away I do like it. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.5

12floz botle, BBD: 09.13.2017, ~$1.75 unit cost, large snifter used as the drinking vessel. Appears medium-dark brown in color with a light amount of head, which gives off plum and butterscotch aromas. It’s full in body, slick, and has a sweet raisiny flavor. Overall, its alright. It has the stuff, some pizazz. Yet it doesn’t wow me. wlajwl (6886) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - AUG 7, 2017
Aroma is malts, toffee/caramel, fruit and very sweet. The flavor is fruit, slightly burnt caramel, toffee, malts and a sweet/warming alcoholic finish. DCLawyer (2846) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - JUN 23, 2017
Bottle->tulip. Deep reddish brown with small lite tan head. Nose has dark fruit, ash, molasses, caramel malt, licorice, hint of over-ripe banana. Taste is spice forward, with cloves and allspice, then bittersweet toffee malt and some fig kick in. Belgian yeast floats throughout. Pretty good. superspak (5694) - Michigan, USA - JUN 14, 2017
12 ounce bottle into chalice, best before 9/13/2017. Pours crystal clear deep ruby red/brown color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, date, cherry, berry, pear, apricot, apple, pepper, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity/spicy yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, date, cherry, berry, pear, apricot, apple, pepper, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark fruit, cherry, berry, pear, apricot, apple, pepper, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity/spicy yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.7%. Overall this is a delicious Belgian strong dark ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity/spicy yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the big ABV. Nicely rich and very complex. Awesome balance between yeast/malt flavors. Never overly sweet/heavy feeling. Wanted more peppery yeast presence and higher carbonation; but this was really well done for the style, and very enjoyable.

12oz bottle dated bb 071317. Clear dark brown with a lightly ruby hue. Cream head. Aroma is earthy buckwheat and some Belgian gritty malt. A little too clean and some candy. A bit of a spritzy mineral feel. Flavor is moderately sweet candy with Belgian dough and again clean. An alcohol essence at end if flavor. Nice enough, like a big dubbel, a little too clean but not too sweet or fruity. sonnycheeba (6126) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - FEB 26, 2017
