UPDATED: NOV 30, 2012 Tap at Roasthouse - pours caramel orange cloudy with medium diminishing white head. Big esters, dried fruit, dark bready malt, raisins and touch of strawberry (as noted). Taste is delicious, with lots bready goodness, malt and dark fruit, with clean finish. Medium lively palate. Very excellent. Approaching the Trappistes, but still some ways to go. (Reaffirmed rating with caged 750 mL bottle. Awesome.) DocLock (11189) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 16, 2013
750 cc from Capone’s. Pours turbid dark brownish chestnut with minimal tan head. Nose is figgy fruit, tart black cherry, plum, and pear esters, oak, caramel malt. Tastes rich, fruity, with notes of apple, pear, tart cherry, and late funk, oak, caramel malt, an overall tart earthy fruity mouthfeel, and a lot of complexity. This one is stellar. hayduke (5731) - Eureka, California, USA - MAR 27, 2016
Got this in Wahington, DC. Poured dark mahogany brown with a big beige head. Lots of lacing. The nose is dark caramel malts. dark fruit, and ripe berries/ Full body. Flavor is fruit and tart cherry The cherry tartness carries over into the finish. Really tasty and enjoyable. Glad I found this one. craig220 (313) - Crofton, Maryland, USA - NOV 25, 2012
Poured a cloudy amber color with a very thin white head. Aroma is banana, raisin, caramel, earthy, and pear. Taste is cherries, raisins, pineapple, caramel, pear, and a nice alcohol burn to finish it off. Butters (4062) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JUN 26, 2013
Sampled on Draft at Cap Ale Innsbrook for the Flying Dog Tap takeover. Hazy amber pour with fair offwhite head. Strawberries and apricots on the nose make for an amazingly interesting bouquet that is the first time that strawberries come off as authentic. The flavor is very sweet and has a bit more strawberry that starts to push the medicinal, but i think that has something to do primarily with the intense booziness. I think this is going to be amazing in 2 years and I can’t wait to revisit!

Bottle. Black with a small head. Bold malty flavours dominate. Straightforward and not very complex. Powerful yet so easy to drink.

Bottle from Appelation Wines Edinburgh. Nice thick head. A little bit to carbonated on the mouthfeel. Aroma of caramell, pear and a little alcohol. Nice taste, like a good quad, with loads of caramell, roasted barley, and a pretty dry finish for being this high in alcohol.
Would buy again! krumbum (1109) - truckee, California, USA - MAR 8, 2014
Deep amber brown that glows in the light. Malty sweetness comes through in the aroma. Yeasty but sweet melds as it fades.
